Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) possesses the knowledge, skills, and attributes required to safely and competently deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients across all stages of life.

Key Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • Identifies, promotes, and educates patients on major health determinants and healthy living behaviors for patients and families.
  • Reduces disease transmission risks by adhering to universal infection control principles.
  • Assesses, plans, and manages nursing interventions to optimize care outcomes for patients in diverse health states.
  • Implements evidence-based pharmacological treatments and accurately calculates drug doses.
  • Documents care delivery and patient outcomes clearly and comprehensively.
  • Evaluates and adjusts nursing care priorities based on patient needs and outcomes, ensuring continuity.
  • Delivers culturally sensitive care that respects human rights, regional practices, and individual preferences.
  • Protects patients from harm, abuse, neglect, or risks within the scope of nursing practice.
  • Advocates for patient rights in alignment with legislation and ethical principles.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality of patient information.
  • Applies effective time management strategies to organize workloads.
  • Recognizes and addresses policies, procedures, or orders that deviate from best practices or jeopardize patient outcomes.
  • Reports unsafe practices and takes corrective action to uphold care standards.
  • Utilizes evidence-based research to perform safe, effective, and efficient nursing interventions while considering patient preferences.
  • Establishes and maintains professional boundaries with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Recognizes limitations in professional knowledge/skills and takes appropriate action.
  • Assumes accountability for the delegation of nursing care.
  • Initiates or participates in research to improve care standards and advance nursing knowledge.
  • Identifies scientific advances and uses technology to enhance patient care.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Identifies, reports, and documents healthcare practices that compromise patient care, privacy, or dignity, taking remedial action as needed.
  • Provides and seeks constructive feedback among team members.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and maintains records of learning activities.
  • Maintains an active nursing license through self-regulation.
  • Shares knowledge and collaborates with colleagues.
  • Acts as a preceptor/mentor to new or less experienced nurses.
  • Participates in teaching/education programs as relevant.
  • Submits documentation accurately and timely, ensuring legibility and clarity.
  • Supports Nursing Supervisor and Homecare Manager in decision-making and policy implementation.
  • Maintains accurate time records, adheres to attendance policies, and follows dress code.
  • Conserves resources and maintains office equipment/supplies.

Qualifications (Education and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing.
  • HAAD-licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience post-qualification.
