Librarian jobs in South Africa

We are looking for a Librarian to join our team in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the library’s resources, organizing and cataloging materials, and providing reference services to patrons. Preference will be given to applicants of Indian nationality.

The successful applicant will have an understanding of library operations and best practices. They should also possess excellent organizational skills and have a good knowledge of computers and information systems. Candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent customer service skills.

1. Managing library resources such as books, periodicals, audio-visual material, CDs/DVDs and other electronic formats
2. Organizing library collections and ensuring they are properly cataloged
3. Answering reference inquiries from patrons
4. Assisting with computer related tasks such as setting up computer accounts or troubleshooting network or printer problems
5. Preparing reports on library activities which may include circulation statistics or operational costs
6. Assisting with research projects or special events such as book fairs or author visits
7. Developing new programs to increase patron use of the library’s services
