Role Context
The Technician – Heavy Duty Trucks will support Al‑Futtaim Automotive’s Commercial Vehicle Aftersales operations by carrying out accurate repairs, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and service work on heavy‑duty trucks.
The role requires the ability to work independently while following manufacturer standards, dealership procedures, safety guidelines, job cards, diagnostic processes, and workshop quality controls.
The successful candidate will contribute directly to vehicle uptime, efficient workshop flow, customer confidence, and aftersales performance in Dubai’s commercial vehicle sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on heavy‑duty trucks according to manufacturer and dealership standards.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical faults accurately using diagnostic equipment, tools, manuals, and service procedures.
- Complete assigned repairs within standard time while maintaining high‑quality workmanship.
- Support first‑time‑fix performance by identifying root causes and reducing repeat repairs.
- Inspect vehicles carefully and report additional repair needs, safety concerns, or potential technical issues to supervisors.
- Follow job cards, check sheets, technical manuals, schematics, repair instructions, and workshop processes during all repair activities.
- Use workshop tools, diagnostic devices, lifting equipment, and service equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintain clear communication with workshop supervisors regarding job progress, technical challenges, parts requirements, and completion status.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with quality standards, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Keep the assigned workspace clean, organized, safe, and ready for efficient workshop activity.
- Support workshop productivity by completing tasks accurately, efficiently, and within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with team members, service advisors, parts teams, and supervisors to support smooth job flow.
- Maintain basic repair records, inspection details, and service documentation where required.
- Stay updated on heavy‑duty truck systems, repair methods, diagnostic practices, and continuous improvement standards.
- Contribute to a positive workshop culture focused on teamwork, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or certification in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of automotive service experience, preferably with heavy‑duty trucks, commercial vehicles, or dealership workshop operations.
- Proven ability to carry out repairs independently with strong technical accuracy.
- Good knowledge of heavy‑duty truck systems, service requirements, repair procedures, and workshop standards.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Familiarity with service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, diagnostic tools, and workshop check sheets.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, high‑volume workshop environment.
- Basic computer skills for job card updates, diagnostic reporting, or workshop systems.
- Strong focus on first‑time‑fix quality, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Good communication skills with the ability to report technical issues clearly.
