Job summary

Groupl in Abu Dhabi UAE seeks an Instrumentation Technician to maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot field instruments across a continuous manufacturing facility. The role requires hands-on instrumentation experience and familiarity with DCS/PLC systems.

You will install, calibrate, test and repair transmitters, sensors, flow meters and control valves, while keeping logs and supporting control system diagnostics. Transport and accommodation are provided.

Qualifications

• Diploma or trade certificate in Instrumentation Electronics or Control Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with process instrumentation in a continuous manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and instrument data sheets; knowledge of DCS/PLC systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain and repair field instruments such as transmitters, sensors, flow meters, pressure gauges and control valves.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation faults and loop failures with testing equipment and documentation.
• Perform routine instrument checks and calibrations per maintenance schedules.
• Maintain instrumentation records, calibration certificates and CMMS logs.
• Support DCS/PLC operations and assist with system diagnostics.
• Adhere to PTW and LOTO safety procedures and coordinate with teams to minimise disruption.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to maintain calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems across our production facility. The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on experience with process instrumentation in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform installation calibration maintenance and repair of field instruments including transmitters sensors flow meters pressure gauges level instruments and control valves
• Troubleshoot instrumentation faults and loop failures using appropriate testing equipment and documentation
• Conduct routine instrument checks and calibrations in accordance with maintenance schedules
• Maintain instrumentation records calibration certificates and maintenance logs in the CMMS
• Support DCS/PLC operations and assist with control system diagnostics
• Interpret and work from instrument loop diagrams P&IDs and instrument data sheets
• Adhere strictly to PTW LOTO and site safety procedures
• Coordinate with process and operations teams to minimise production disruptions during maintenance activities
• Support planned and unplanned shutdowns from an instrumentation perspective
• Identify opportunities to improve instrument reliability and performance

Requirements

• Diploma or trade certificate in Instrumentation Electronics or Control Engineering
• Minimum 2 4 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in a process or manufacturing plant
• Hands-on experience with HART communicators and calibration tools
• Ability to interpret P&IDs loop diagrams and instrument data sheets
• Working knowledge of DCS/PLC systems and control loops
• Familiarity with PTW and LOTO safety procedures
• Basic proficiency in English for technical communication
• Willingness to work in rotating shifts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in paper pulp chemicals or continuous process industries
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and fieldbus protocols (HART Foundation Fieldbus Profibus)
