Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine, preventive and corrective maintenance on plant instrumentation and control equipment.
- Execute maintenance work in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, approved work orders and technical standards.
- Inspect process instruments and control devices to identify deterioration, abnormal operation or emerging faults.
- Report identified instrument problems and support timely corrective action before equipment reliability is affected.
- Troubleshoot faults affecting process monitoring, control and protective instrumentation.
- Repair, calibrate and test different types of process control instruments.
- Maintain relay logic systems and associated control equipment in accordance with original design requirements.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules and equipment maintenance strategies.
- Participate in planned plant shutdown and turnaround maintenance activities.
- Complete assigned shutdown work within approved schedules and coordinate outstanding technical requirements.
- Verify completed maintenance activities to ensure equipment has been restored to the required operational condition.
- Complete maintenance activity sheets and associated technical records accurately.
- Perform emergency maintenance on instrumentation equipment during unexpected failures or plant operating problems.
- Support maintenance during scheduled and unscheduled machine shutdowns to restore equipment availability.
- Test repaired instruments before returning them to operational service.
- Perform field modifications to control elements and control loops according to approved plant change requests.
- Support system modifications involving instrumentation and control logic where authorized.
- Ensure plant modifications comply with applicable Management of Change requirements.
- Assist in updating instrumentation drawings and technical documentation to reflect completed field modifications.
- Support upgrading and retrofitting of control instruments installed in field locations.
- Assist with integration of new instrumentation into existing control panels.
- Perform instrument retrofit activities within main control room panels when required.
- Support completion of Plant Change Requests associated with instrumentation modifications.
- Verify installations against applicable technical specifications and plant standards.
- Maintain vigilance during field rounds to identify conditions that could lead to instrument or control system failure.
- Coordinate effectively with Operations and Maintenance personnel during testing, isolation and return-to-service activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance history and equipment condition records for future troubleshooting and reliability analysis.
- Follow applicable HSE requirements during instrument maintenance, testing and modification activities.
Ideal Profile
- Technical Diploma in a relevant instrumentation or control discipline, or Secondary School Certificate supported by an appropriate vocational trade certificate.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the same or a similar instrumentation maintenance role within the Oil and Gas industry.
- Practical experience maintaining process instrumentation in an operating industrial plant.
- Strong understanding of preventive, corrective and emergency instrument maintenance.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting process control instrumentation and field devices.
- Ability to calibrate and test different types of industrial instruments.
- Familiarity with process monitoring, control and protective equipment.
- Working knowledge of relay logic and basic control loop functionality.
- Experience participating in plant shutdown and turnaround maintenance activities.
- Ability to interpret instrumentation drawings, control diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Practical understanding of field instrument replacement, upgrading and retrofitting.
- Experience modifying control elements and loops under approved plant change procedures.
- Familiarity with Management of Change requirements.
- Ability to verify completed maintenance work and maintain accurate technical records.
- Strong awareness of plant safety requirements and safe maintenance practices.
- Ability to respond effectively to equipment failures and unplanned plant maintenance requirements.
