Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or related technical discipline.
• EV certification or specialized training in electric vehicles is a plus.
• 5+ years of relevant automotive industry experience, with hands-on Light Commercial Vehicles.
• Experience with ICE and EV vehicle platforms is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for ICE and EV Light Commercial Vehicles across the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate with OEMs/principals and suppliers on specs and product improvements.
• Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking of vehicle tech and positioning.

Job description

Job Purpose

To provide technical leadership and product expertise for Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs), covering both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) platforms. The role is responsible for product technical evaluation, product development support, market and competitor research, technical coordination with OEM/principals, and ensuring products are suitable for UAE/GCC market and customer requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities

• Provide technical expertise and support for ICE and EV Light Commercial Vehicles across the product lifecycle.
• Support the evaluation and development of new vehicle models, variants and technical specifications based on market requirements.
• Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking covering vehicle specifications, technology, performance and product positioning.
• Coordinate with OEMs/principals and suppliers on technical specifications, product improvements, modifications and technical concerns.
• Evaluate new products and technologies and recommend suitable solutions based on customer, operational and market requirements.
• Support product homologation, testing and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to the UAE/GCC market.
• Provide technical input for new product launches and support Sales, After Sales, Parts and other business functions as required.
• Analyse product performance and technical issues and coordinate appropriate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.
• Support technical training and knowledge transfer to internal Sales and After Sales teams for new products and technologies.
• Maintain updated knowledge of developments in EV technology, battery systems, charging solutions, powertrain technology and commercial vehicle trends.
• Prepare technical reports, product comparisons, feasibility assessments and recommendations for management review.
• Ensure technical activities are carried out in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements and applicable regulatory requirements.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Additional certification or specialised training in Electric Vehicles, automotive technology or commercial vehicles would be an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
• Hands-on technical/product experience with Light Commercial Vehicles is required.
• Experience with both ICE and EV vehicle platforms is strongly preferred.
• Experience in product development, product evaluation, market research and competitor benchmarking.
• Exposure to working with automotive OEMs/principals would be an advantage.
• UAE/GCC automotive market experience is preferred.
