Job Overview

Al-Futtaim Automotive is looking for a Technical Advisor – Volvo to support workshop operations, technician development, customer satisfaction, and service efficiency. The position involves leading and coaching the Volvo Personal Service team while helping improve workshop productivity, service quality, and customer experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with technicians and workshop teams to identify operational issues, improve daily planning, support technical activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Coaching

• Lead and support the Volvo Personal Service team in achieving workshop and customer service objectives.
• Coach technicians on technical, administrative, and operational matters.
• Conduct regular team meetings to review daily priorities, work progress, and operational challenges.
• Encourage team members to identify and report issues that may affect workshop performance.
• Provide first-line support when technicians encounter production planning or day-to-day operational challenges.

Workshop Planning and Productivity

• Support daily workshop planning and monitor work in progress.
• Review upcoming workload and identify potential resource or support requirements.
• Maintain workshop planning and visual management boards.
• Monitor productivity and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Help reduce lost workshop hours through effective planning and resource coordination.
• Participate in improvement projects designed to enhance workshop productivity and efficiency.

Technical Support

• Provide technical guidance to Personal Service Technicians (PSTs) when required.
• Support technicians with minor vehicle repair and technical issues.
• Help ensure workshop activities are completed according to applicable technical and operational standards.
• Support the development of technician capabilities through practical coaching and on-the-job guidance.
• Promote safe and effective use of workshop tools and equipment.

Customer Experience

• Support the team in delivering a high-quality customer service experience.
• Monitor customer satisfaction and help address service-related concerns.
• Assist with customer complaint resolution and follow-up activities.
• Encourage timely customer communication following workshop visits.
• Support customer retention initiatives by identifying opportunities to reconnect with inactive customers.
• Help the team achieve customer satisfaction and retention targets.

Service Sales and Customer Retention

• Coach team members on identifying appropriate value-added service opportunities.
• Support sales of relevant automotive products and services, including accessories, tyres, batteries, tinting, and other workshop offerings.
• Ensure recommendations are based on genuine customer and vehicle requirements.
• Monitor service sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to initiatives aimed at strengthening customer loyalty and repeat business.

Quality and Continuous Improvement

• Promote continuous improvement across workshop operations.
• Support the implementation of improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and service quality.
• Maintain workplace organization in accordance with 5S principles.
• Support workshop audit requirements and follow up on identified improvement areas.
• Monitor operational performance and recommend practical solutions to recurring issues.

Training and Development

• Identify training and development requirements for Personal Service Technicians.
• Track training activities and support completion of required technical certifications.
• Provide on-the-job coaching to strengthen technical and operational skills.
• Coordinate with the Al-Futtaim Automotive Academy on technician assessments and development activities.
• Support workforce capability planning based on workshop workload and business requirements.
• Contribute to maintaining a positive and engaged team environment.

• AATC and/or IMI Level 4 certification is preferred or required as applicable to the role.
• Valid UAE driving license.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical leadership or senior technical position within an automotive dealership or workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle technology and workshop operations.
• Advanced knowledge of electric vehicle (EV) systems and technology.
• Experience coaching technicians and supporting workshop performance would be an advantage.
