Position Summary

The Team Lead - Inventory Control is responsible for organizing daily inventory activities, allocating workloads, supervising scanning operations, and ensuring stock records remain accurate across the assigned retail operation. The position requires close monitoring of scanning progress, bin completion, discrepancies, team productivity, and compliance with established inventory procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.

Inventory Planning and Execution

• Allocate assigned bins, areas, and inventory tasks among team members to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Monitor and execute daily scanning activities according to the approved inventory plan.
• Ensure assigned bins and stock-control activities are completed within required timelines.
• Track daily progress and address delays or incomplete activities promptly.
• Organize workload according to operational priorities and daily inventory requirements.

Team Supervision

• Lead and supervise Inventory Control Assistants during daily operations.
• Brief team members on targets, priorities, processes, and operational requirements.
• Monitor individual and team productivity against established expectations.
• Provide on-the-job guidance on scanning, counting, verification, and inventory procedures.
• Ensure team members follow approved processes while maintaining discipline and productivity.
• Support achievement of daily scanning targets without reducing inventory accuracy.

Scanning and Bin Management

• Oversee barcode scanning of merchandise using PDT and RF scanning devices.
• Ensure assigned bins are scanned and completed accurately and systematically.
• Monitor scanning progress and identify incomplete bins, delays, and operational bottlenecks.
• Conduct random checks to verify that merchandise is correctly scanned, counted, and recorded.
• Ensure misplaced, damaged, unidentified, or duplicate items are reported and handled through the appropriate process.
• Maintain organized and controlled execution of stock verification activities.

Inventory Accuracy and Reconciliation

• Monitor inventory accuracy during scanning and stock-counting activities.
• Investigate discrepancies identified during inventory checks.
• Coordinate recounting and verification activities where required.
• Ensure discrepancies are properly documented.
• Escalate unresolved inventory differences to the relevant supervisor or manager.
• Support accurate system records through disciplined verification and reconciliation.

Productivity and Performance Management

• Track daily team performance against scanning, bin completion, accuracy, and productivity targets.
• Prepare and maintain operational reports and daily productivity updates.
• Identify performance gaps and coordinate corrective actions with the supervisor or manager.
• Monitor team output to ensure scanning targets are achieved efficiently.
• Maintain the balance between productivity requirements and inventory accuracy.

Retail Operations Coordination

• Coordinate with the Retail Store Manager or In-Charge, stockroom teams, and other relevant departments.
• Support smooth execution of inventory activities across retail locations.
• Communicate operational issues that may affect scanning, counting, or stock verification.
• Work with relevant teams to resolve inventory-related issues and maintain workflow continuity.

PDT and System Management

• Ensure team members use PDT and RF scanning devices correctly.
• Monitor adherence to approved barcode scanning and inventory system processes.
• Report technical issues involving devices, systems, or barcodes that may affect operations.
• Support accurate system updates following stock-counting and verification activities.
• Ensure inventory information is handled according to defined control procedures.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure compliance with company inventory procedures, SOPs, and retail operational guidelines.
• Promote safe handling of merchandise and inventory equipment.
• Maintain an organized and safe working environment during inventory activities.
• Reinforce correct stock-handling procedures to minimize loss, damage, and discrepancies.
