Role Context The Stock Coordinator supports the store by maintaining accurate control of merchandise from the moment goods arrive until they are transferred to the sales floor or processed for return. The role requires disciplined stock handling, correct electronic and physical counting, organized storage, accurate inventory movement records, and close coordination with Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and Sales Associates. Reliable stockroom management improves product availability, reduces discrepancies, limits avoidable damage, and helps the sales team serve customers efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive incoming merchandise and verify quantities through physical counting and electronic stock records.
  • Compare delivered goods against available inventory information and report any quantity discrepancies.
  • Inspect merchandise for damage, defects, or quality issues before items are placed into stock.
  • Inform the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager promptly when damaged products or stock irregularities are identified.
  • Ensure merchandise is handled and stored correctly to prevent avoidable damage.
  • Classify products according to store procedures, categories, and designated stockroom locations.
  • Arrange inventory systematically so required products can be located and issued quickly.
  • Tag newly received stock according to approved retail procedures.
  • Process merchandise returns when instructed by senior store personnel.
  • Support Sales Associates with timely replenishment of shelves, fixtures, and displays.
  • Monitor stockroom availability and help ensure key products remain accessible to the sales floor.
  • Record inventory inward and outward movements accurately.
  • Maintain updated stock movement reports and assist with reconciliation when required.
  • Check products for missing price tags and report affected merchandise for correction.
  • Maintain vigilance over merchandise security and follow store loss-prevention procedures.
  • Handle stock carefully during receipt, storage, movement, and replenishment.
  • Keep the stockroom clean, orderly, and compliant with established housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure cartons, shelves, storage locations, and movement areas remain properly organized.
  • Assist with periodic Stock Take exercises and physical inventory counts.
  • Help verify stock quantities during reconciliation and investigate discrepancies when requested.
  • Use warehouse management or inventory systems to support stock tracking where applicable.
  • Remain flexible to work extended hours during sales campaigns, festivals, promotional events, and peak retail periods.
  • Perform regular physical duties including lifting and moving merchandise weighing approximately 10 kg.

Ideal Profile The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a stockroom, retail inventory, warehouse, logistics, receiving, or merchandise-handling role. Strong organizational skills are important because the position requires accurate stock classification, reliable recording, efficient storage, and quick product retrieval. Familiarity with warehouse management systems, inventory software, barcode-based stock tracking, or electronic merchandise records will be advantageous. Candidates should be comfortable conducting physical counts, checking merchandise condition, recording stock movements, supporting replenishment, and assisting with Stock Take activities. Attention to detail is essential for identifying damaged items, missing price tags, inaccurate quantities, and discrepancies between physical and system stock. The successful candidate should also be physically fit and capable of lifting merchandise weighing around 10 kg during regular store operations.
