Responsibilities

• Attend Inspection Requests (IRs) submitted by the contractor and take appropriate action.
• Review submitted shop drawings against contract drawings and specifications, local codes and international best practice.
• Report works not in accordance with approved drawings and specifications and inform stakeholders.
• Monitor site quality and safety, ensuring compliance with contract/QCS specs and safety risk assessments.
• Maintain daily site records with progress photos for inspection.

Job description

Our Global Project Supervision Consultancy client has a new requirement for a number of well experienced Consultant Structural Inspectors to join their team in Abu Dhabi working on high voltage / OHL / utilities works across the Emirate. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Consultant Structural Inspector working on similar projects in the UAE. Only candidates with a track record of working for recognised supervision consultants or PMC Companies will be considered. TAQA Approval is highly advantageous.This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3 month contract basis as an outsource employed by J10 Consulting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attending to Inspection Requests (IR's) submitted by the contractor and take appropriate action in a timely manner.
• Review submitted shop drawings against contract drawings and specifications, local codes and statutory requirements and international best practice.
• Report any works carried out by contractor found to not be in accordance with approved drawing and specifications and report to stakeholders for appropriate action.
• Monitor quality of works and assess the safety at site including health and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with contractual /QCS specifications and safety and health risk assessments.
• Maintain records for daily activities on site including progress photos and ensure they are readily available for inspection as and when required.
• Prepare surveillance report(s) for deficiencies of work found at site and non conformance reports (NCR) if required in view of the development of events.
• Check and ensure effective co-ordination between discipline related works and all other disciplines.
• Provide technical input and experiences to resolve any discipline related issues on site that may arise.

Structural Inspector Experience:

• Engineering degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or related
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience in construction supervision of major infrastructure / utilities projects
• Must have relevant experience working in a similar role in an engineering consultancy or supervision consultant.
• Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project personnel and management.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction related processes related to area of assignment
