Job summary

J10 Consulting seeks experienced Consultant Structural Engineers to supervise high voltage / OHL and dry utilities works in Abu Dhabi. You will review designs, coordinate with architects and disciplines, and ensure compliance with local codes and standards.

The role requires 6+ years in structural engineering with GCC supervision experience. Immediate joining for a 3-month contract via outsourcing to J10 Consulting.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (Minimum BSc).
• Experience 6+ years and at least 2 in UAE build projects.
• Experience in consultant supervision of projects in GCC.
• Solid background in AutoCAD and Revit with coordination through Revit.
• Ability to undertake structural inspections and report on defects.

Responsibilities

Our Global Project Supervision Consultancy client has a new requirement for a number of well experienced Consultant Structural Engineer to join their team in Abu Dhabi in a supervision consultant capacity overseeing high voltage / OHL / dry utilities works across the Emirate. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Consultant Structural Engineer working on similar projects as a supervision consultant in the UAE performing design review and site coordination. Only candidates with a track record of working for recognised supervision consultants or PMC Companies will be considered. TAQA Approval is highly advantageous. This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3 month contract position hire as an outsource, employed by J10 Consulting.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to review structural designs that meet the project's requirements, including safety, functionality, and aesthetics.
• Analyze and calculate loads, stresses, and forces acting on the structure to determine appropriate materials and design specifications.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to review detailed structural plans and drawings.
• Ensure that all structural designs and construction methods comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for structural aspects of the project.
• Identify and address any potential structural weaknesses or issues.
• Select appropriate construction materials, considering factors such as strength, durability, cost, and environmental impact.
• Specify material quality and procurement methods.
• Collaborate with construction teams to ensure that the structural design is implemented correctly during the construction phase.
• Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing construction, identify any deviations from the design, and provide solutions.
• Implement quality control measures to verify that construction materials and methods meet the required standards.
• Perform structural integrity tests and inspections as necessary.
• Assist in developing and managing the structural engineering portion of the project budget.
• Provide input on cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality.
• Identify potential risks and challenges related to the structural aspects of the project and develop mitigation plans.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, project managers, and clients.
• Provide regular updates on the progress and status of structural engineering activities.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and records of structural design decisions and changes.

Structural Engineer Experience

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering. Minimum BSc
• Minimum experience of 6+ years and at least 2 in UAE build projects and knowledge of structures for infrastructure projects.
• You will have demonstrable experience of Consultant supervision of projects in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment for a recognised consultancy in the GCC
• You will have a solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with ability to carry out coordination through Revit.
• You will have the ability to undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
• A can do, hands on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs
• Willing and quick to adapt to project/team needs and learn from experience
