Job summary

Headway, in New York City, is seeking an exceptional HR Business Partner to support our engineering organization. This in-person role, two days a week, partners with HR leadership and Engineering to build scalable people strategies, programs, and policies to sustain growth.

You’ll drive performance, leadership development, and talent planning across the full HR lifecycle, using data-driven insights and AI tools to elevate the employee experience and manager capability.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive HRBP or HR adjacent experience in high-growth environments.
• Partner with executives to translate business priorities into people plans.
• Data-driven with qualitative and quantitative signals to drive decisions.
• Build trust with managers through candor, follow-through and judgment.
• Strong grounding in performance management, org design and talent development.
• Thrive in fast-paced environments with ownership and operational discipline.
• Curious about using AI tools in HR and able to discuss AI implications with engineering leaders.
• Model Headway's cultural principles and maintain high performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Business Partnership: Translate business priorities into actionable people plans and surface insights for broader org thinking.
• Talent Strategy & Performance: Lead performance management and talent reviews with rigor and accountability.
• Organizational Design & Effectiveness: Inform org structure decisions using headcount and workforce data.
• Coaching & Manager Development: Provide direct, actionable feedback to shift behavior and build capability.
• Analytical & Data-Driven Decision Making: Build and use people data to influence leadership actions; leverage AI tools for analysis.
• Operational Excellence: Own People programs end-to-end from planning to execution.
• Cultural Stewardship & Employee Experience: Uphold Headway’s values and ensure fairness and engagement.
