Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer (Core & MLOps) based in the United Arab Emirates. You will shape foundational infrastructure powering large-scale web data products and cross‑functional teams, owning core control planes, multi‑cloud workloads, and production-grade pipelines.

You will lead architecture, drive reliability, and mentor engineers across squads while operating in a remote-first environment with significant autonomy to influence platform strategy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend systems.
• Advanced Java with reactive frameworks; strong Python.
• Deep experience with gRPC and Protobuf; schema evolution.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve control and context planes with SLOs and health-aware routing.
• Own service chassis, client libraries, Helm charts, and deployment pipelines.
• Define inter-service contracts, including gRPC, API gateway transcoding, and schema evolution standards.
• Operate core platform infra across Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, and related tech.
• Lead architectural strategy through RFDs for workflow orchestration and multi-cluster routing.
• Establish reliability practices including SLOs/SLIs and automated canary deployments.
• Mentor engineers across squads and promote reliable software practices.
