Job summary

Khatib & Alami International in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Site Inspector - Electrical to supervise construction on Abu Dhabi projects. The role requires reviewing contractor works, ensuring adherence to drawings, specs, and HSSE policies, and coordinating with planning, QA/QC, and HSSE teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in Architecture, Engineering and Planning industry with site inspections.
• Experience with site inspections on large supervision sites; familiarity with drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Review contractor work programs during pre-construction as needed.
• Review submittals including shop drawings, method statements, and plans.
• Maintain familiarity with drawings, specs, and standard details for workmanship quality.
• Coordinate with Planning Engineers to monitor daily site activities and resource allocation.
• Conduct inspections on construction works per contractor requests and identify rejections.
• Perform quality inspections with QA/QC and raise non-conformities as needed.
• Support HSSE engineers in enforcing HSSE procedures and recording non-conformities.
• Assist Materials Engineer in supervising testing and sample checks.
• Support claims assessment related to scope, schedule, and cost changes.
• Assist in hand-over, defects liability period, and commissioning reports.

Job Summary

The Site Inspector is a key member of the supervision services team. S/He works closely with supervision teams for the inspection of construction sites, including the inspection of construction works progress and the inspection and implementation of quality and HSSE policies, procedures and client requirements by contractors and subcontractors. The jobholder is expected to maintain strong familiarity of all construction drawings to ensure the adherence of contractors and subcontractors to approved drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Support supervision teams with the review of the contractor’s work program during the pre-construction phase, as needed
• Support supervision teams with the review of contractors’ submittals, including staffing proposals, organization charts, shop drawings, method statements, project procedures, traffic management plans, etc., as needed
• Maintain familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, standard details and all other information related to the standard workmanship and quality of works
• Closely work with Planning Engineers for monitoring contractors’ daily activities on site (e.g. concrete pouring, installations, etc.) and resource allocation against plans
• Conduct inspection on construction works according to Requests for Inspections submitted by contractors and highlight reasons for rejection of works, if any
• Conduct quality inspections on contractors and subcontractors with the QA / QC Engineer and identify and raise quality issues, as needed
• Monitor the implementation of quality non-conformities action plans on construction sites
• Support HSSE Engineers on enforcing and monitoring the implementation of HSSE procedures on construction sites and recording and raising HSSE non-conformities, as needed
• Support the Materials Engineer to supervise the testing of materials and checking of materials samples against specifications and standards, as needed
• Support project teams with the review, assessment and response to all claims raised by the contractor regarding scope, schedule and cost changes of projects, as needed
• Support the supervision team during the hand-over and defects liability period, as needed
• Support Site Engineers with the preparation of commissioning reports and with conducting final inspection of works
• Assist Site Engineers with the preparation of list of snags to the contractor and monitoring the contractors’ rectification of list of snags during the Defects Liability Period
• Provide input for the preparation and issuance of Take-Over Certificates and Defect Liability Certificates
• Provide input to Planning Engineers for the development of project progress reports, as needed
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

Specific Qualification, Experience and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred
• 8+ years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Planning Industry in a top tier regional / multinational consultancy firm, with expertise in construction site inspections
• Experience with site inspections on large supervision sites, including inspection of works progress, quality inspections and HSSE inspections
• Knowledge of construction supervision services
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Good communication skills
• Good organization skills
• Strong attention to details
• Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic and English
