Job summary

ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants in Abu Dhabi seeks a Civil Inspector to join our supervision team on a major project. You will supervise contractor activities on site, review shop drawings, ITPs and material quality, and ensure compliance with project requirements, quality, safety and schedule.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and has extensive UAE experience, including at least 5 years in engineering consultancy and 3 years in Abu Dhabi.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years total experience.
• Minimum 5 years UAE experience.
• Minimum 3 years in engineering consultancy.
• Experience in Abu Dhabi is a must.

Responsibilities

• Supervise contractor activities on site per drawings, methods, and ITPs.
• Ensure on-site workmanship meets required quality.
• Maintain regular progress records and assist interim payments review.
• Attend site meetings with the Resident Engineer.
• Inspect snagging, de-snagging, and taking over processes.

Job description

We are seeking a Civil Inspector to join our supervision team for our project in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure compliance with project quality, safety, and timeline requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise, monitor and inspect all activities carried out by the Contractor on site in accordance with the approved shop drawings, materials, method statements and ITPs.
• Ensure that the materials and workmanship of executed works on site meet to the required levels of quality.
• Maintain regular records of actual work progress on site to assist the review and evaluation of Contractor's submitted interim payments.
• Make special notes and report on any issues on site that may trigger cost or time claims.
• Liaise with the Contractor team in a fair and firm manner.
• Adhere to the approved HSE rules and procedures on site and ensure Contractor's team compliance with the same.
• Review and verify the daily reports submitted by the Contractor and keep records of the same.
• Witness and supervise materials sampling and testing procedures, and inspect and keep records of the delivered materials to site.
• Resolve daily generated site issues in coordination with the Resident Engineer.
• Check and approve the 'Day work' records submitted by the Contractor.
• Review and comment on the Weekly and Monthly Progress Reports submitted by the Contractor.
• Attend site technical and progress meetings as may be directed and requested by the Resident Engineer.
• Follow and maintain Company standards of Quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements.
• Carry out all the necessary inspections during the snagging, de-snagging and handing over processes of the project and maintain records of the same to assist the issuance of taking over Certificate accordingly.
• Inspect and keep records of the rectification works carried out by the Contractor during the Defects Liability Period.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years of total experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the UAE

Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering consultancy

Experience in Abu Dhabi is a must

Skills

Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and equipment.

Ability to read/interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.

Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

Ability to maintain accurate project records.
