ServiceNow Self-Hosted Architect

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Self-Hosted Architect to provide strategic, architectural, and technical leadership for self-hosted ServiceNow environments. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in infrastructure architecture, platform operations, security, and ServiceNow ecosystem management. You will be responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing self-hosted ServiceNow deployments, ensuring the platform remains scalable, highly available, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the architecture, standards, and governance model for self-hosted ServiceNow environments.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure infrastructure architectures supporting ServiceNow production and non-production environments.
• Develop hosting strategies covering high availability, disaster recovery, backup, capacity planning, and business continuity.
• Establish platform standards, design principles, and operational guardrails to support long-term sustainability and growth.
• Evaluate infrastructure technologies and deployment approaches to improve platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Infrastructure & Environment Management

• Lead the design and governance of ServiceNow infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, operating systems, databases, and virtualization platforms.
• Define environment strategies across Development, Test, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production landscapes.
• Oversee platform upgrades, patching strategies, release management, and environment refresh activities.
• Ensure platform sizing, capacity planning, performance optimization, and resource utilization align with business requirements.
• Provide architectural guidance for MID Server deployments and supporting infrastructure components.

Security, Compliance & Resilience

• Define and enforce platform security architecture, hardening standards, access controls, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise security, privacy, audit, and regulatory frameworks.
• Lead disaster recovery planning, resilience testing, and recovery readiness activities.
• Review and govern infrastructure changes to ensure platform stability, security, and compliance.
• Support vulnerability remediation and infrastructure risk management initiatives.

Integration & Enterprise Architecture

• Define infrastructure and network connectivity patterns for integrations between ServiceNow and enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure architecture alignment across the enterprise ecosystem.
• Ensure infrastructure supports integration requirements, data exchange, platform monitoring, and operational management.
• Provide architectural oversight for enterprise monitoring, logging, observability, and platform health management solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

• Partner with infrastructure, security, cloud, operations, and enterprise architecture teams to develop and execute hosting strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to platform administrators, engineers, and operational support teams.
• Communicate platform architecture, risks, operational health, and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical governance forums, and infrastructure design workshops.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Stay current with ServiceNow platform requirements, infrastructure technologies, cloud strategies, and industry best practices.
• Identify opportunities to modernize infrastructure, improve resilience, automate operational processes, and optimize platform performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on security, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure architecture, platform engineering, or ServiceNow architecture roles.
• Proven experience designing and supporting self-hosted or customer-managed ServiceNow environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including servers, operating systems, networking, storage, virtualization, databases, and cloud platforms.
• Experience designing highly available and disaster recovery-enabled enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of security architecture, identity and access management, network security, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with MID Server architecture, platform integrations, monitoring tools, and operational support models.
• Knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, data structures, security models, and upgrade processes.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and REST/SOAP integrations is advantageous.
• Experience collaborating with infrastructure operations, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture teams.
• Experience working within Agile and controlled-release delivery environments.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) preferred.
• ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA) is advantageous.
• Infrastructure and cloud certifications are highly desirable (Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware, Red Hat, Cisco, or equivalent).
• ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
