Job summary

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF) in the UAE seeks an automotive service technician responsible for routine vehicle servicing, preventive maintenance, PDI checks, and basic repairs. You will use VDS and other scanning tools and support repair teams to ensure MG guidelines and IEM SOPs are met.

The role requires at least 1 year of relevant experience, a Higher Diploma in Mechanics, and Brand Advanced Technician Qualification Certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in automotive service technician positions.
• Practical experience in routine vehicle servicing, preventive maintenance, and basic mechanical repairs.
• Familiarity with vehicle inspections and diagnostic scanning tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor periodic servicing and preventive maintenance in accordance with MG guidelines and IEM standard operating procedures.
• Repair or replace worn and faulty vehicle components according to the assigned job order.
• Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles meet the required quality and operational standards before delivery.
• Use vehicle scanning tools, including VDS, to read and clear fault codes where applicable.
• Assist Repair Technicians and Diagnostic Technicians with repair and troubleshooting activities as required.
• Identify and report vehicle faults or additional repair requirements to the Supervisor.

Role Purpose

To carry out routine vehicle servicing, preventive maintenance, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and basic vehicle repairs in accordance with MG guidelines and IEM SOPs, ensuring vehicles are maintained in optimal working condition and meet established quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out minor periodic servicing and preventive maintenance in accordance with MG guidelines and IEM standard operating procedures.
• Repair or replace worn and faulty vehicle components according to the assigned job order.
• Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles meet the required quality and operational standards before delivery.
• Use vehicle scanning tools, including VDS, to read and clear fault codes where applicable.
• Assist Repair Technicians and Diagnostic Technicians with repair and troubleshooting activities as required.
• Identify and report vehicle faults or additional repair requirements to the Supervisor.
• Continuously update technical knowledge and skills by participating in formal training sessions and keeping up with developments in automotive technology.
• Maintain an inventory of standard technician tools and ensure tools and equipment are used appropriately.
• Provide clear and accurate descriptions of work performed, document relevant observations, and report any safety-related concerns to the Supervisor.
• Record working time against assigned job orders in accordance with established procedures.
• Coordinate with the Workshop Controller regarding vehicle status and with the Parts Advisor to obtain the correct parts required for servicing and repairs.
• Follow instructions from the Supervisor and comply with company policies and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
• Maintain company assets and ensure the work area is clean, organized, and properly maintained.
• Comply with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Department Manager.

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar automotive service technician position.
• Practical experience in routine vehicle servicing, preventive maintenance, and basic mechanical repairs.
• Familiarity with vehicle inspections and diagnostic scanning tools is preferred.

Education

• Higher Diploma in Mechanics.

Certification

• Brand Advanced Technician Qualification Certification is required.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of routine vehicle servicing and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to identify and replace worn or faulty vehicle components.
