Job summary

Remotedxb is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to lead end-to-end design for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid projects in the UAE. You will program SEL controllers, develop Codesys control logic, and validate closed-loop algorithms including PFR and AVR.

You will mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex SCADA issues with Wireshark, and collaborate with EPCs and asset owners to ensure grid compliance and successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related field.
• 3-5+ years IEC 61131-3/PLC programming experience (Codesys or AcSELerator preferred).
• 3+ years of utility-scale power plant controls experience (solar, BESS, or hybrid).
• Expert knowledge of industrial protocols: Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA.
• Expert knowledge of grid functionality: PFR, AVR, Voltage Regulation.
• Proficiency with Utility/ISO testing and interconnection requirements (ERCOT, PJM, BPA, IEEE 2800, NERC).
• Experience with Power Plant Controller (PPC) design and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end controls design for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid projects.
• Program and commission SEL controllers using AcSELerator; develop control logic in Codesys.
• Implement and validate closed-loop Active Power and Reactive Power, AVR and PFR algorithms.
• Troubleshoot SCADA and controls issues using Wireshark and diagnostic tools.
• Produce system architecture diagrams, control narratives, and logic diagrams.
• Contribute to new feature development and bug fixes with Product Engineering.
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and FAT coaching.
• Serve as primary controls technical contact for EPCs, asset owners, and grid operators.
