Job summary

Remotedxb is seeking an experienced real-time power systems engineer to develop and validate HIL models for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid plants. You will configure RTDS/RSCAD models, translate interconnection requirements, and build plant-wide simulations for power and grid support.

The role requires hands-on HIL setup with RTDS hardware, integration of controllers and SCADA into simulation environments, and rigorous test plans to ensure robust operation under field conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Controls Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience with PSCAD, RSCAD, RTDS, or real-time power system simulation.
• Hands-on experience setting up Hardware-in-the-Loop environments.
• Strong understanding of power systems, inverter-based resources, and utility-scale solar/BESS.
• Experience integrating physical controllers, RTACs, relays, or SCADA systems into simulation environments.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols such as DNP3, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850, or OPC UA.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across models, controls, and communication networks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and configure project-specific RTDS and RSCAD models for utility-scale solar, BESS, and hybrid plants.
• Translate electrical one-lines, control narratives, and interconnection requirements into real-time models.
• Build and validate plant-level models for power, voltage control, and grid support functions.
• Set up Hardware-in-the-Loop environments using RTDS and physical control hardware.
• Integrate PPCs, EMS controllers, RTACs, relays, and SCADA servers into HIL environments.
• Develop and execute HIL test plans, procedures, and validation reports.
• Troubleshoot model, controller, communication, and network issues during testing.
• Replicate field issues in the HIL environment to support root-cause analysis.
