Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is seeking a Senior Engineer - Planning - Road and Infra to lead planning, design and development of road and infrastructure projects. You will oversee strategic planning, technical oversight, and mentoring of junior staff while ensuring quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 8+ years in road and infrastructure planning, proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and GIS, and a strong track record in delivering large projects within the UAE.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in road and infrastructure planning and design.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale infrastructure projects from planning through completion.
• Advanced proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and GIS platforms.
• Strong knowledge of road design standards, traffic engineering principles, and transportation systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in project management, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
• Knowledge of UAE infrastructure standards, local regulations, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities with experience mentoring junior staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience with cost estimation and value engineering and marine projects.
• Familiarity with sustainability and green infrastructure planning practices.
• Professional certification in civil engineering or related field (preferred).
• Experience working in the Middle East region (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and design phases of road and infrastructure projects from conception through implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and client requirements
• Conduct comprehensive site analysis, traffic studies, and feasibility assessments to inform project planning and design decisions
• Develop detailed technical specifications, design standards, and project documentation using industry-leading software and tools
• Analyze project data and performance metrics to optimize infrastructure solutions and identify areas for improvement
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, government agencies, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and project alignment
• Oversee budget planning, cost estimation, and resource allocation for assigned projects
• Mentor and supervise junior engineers and planning staff, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development
• Ensure compliance with local UAE regulations, international standards, and environmental requirements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability and innovation into infrastructure planning
• Review and approve technical drawings, reports, and project deliverables to maintain quality standards
• Participate in project reviews and provide recommendations for process improvements and best practices
