Job summary

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise road construction activities and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, and project requirements.
• Coordinate daily construction activities covering earthworks, subgrade, subbase, road base, asphalt, kerbs, footpaths, paving, road markings, and associated works.
• Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, RFIs, and technical proposals.
• Monitor construction progress, workmanship, quality, and compliance with approved project documentation.
• Conduct site inspections and review Inspection Requests before acceptance of completed works.
• Coordinate with surveyors to verify setting out, levels, alignment, grades, and road profiles.
• Monitor earthworks, compaction, field density testing, pavement construction, asphalt works, and associated quality control activities.
• Coordinate road construction interfaces with wet utilities, drainage, electrical networks, telecom systems, street lighting, landscaping, and other infrastructure services.
• Identify technical issues, construction risks, and potential delays and coordinate corrective actions.
• Assess proposed construction methods and solutions and provide technical recommendations where required.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors, Authorities, and project stakeholders to resolve construction and technical matters.
• Monitor testing and inspection activities and verify that required approvals are secured before subsequent works proceed.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, construction progress, technical matters, and site activities.
• Participate in progress, technical, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Support the Resident Engineer with the management and supervision of road construction activities.
• Monitor implementation of applicable health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements throughout the works.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in site supervision, inspection, and quality control.
• Relevant experience on road and infrastructure projects.
• Practical knowledge of earthworks, pavement construction, asphalt, kerbs, footpaths, paving, and road markings.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, inspection procedures, and testing requirements.
• Experience coordinating road works with utilities and other infrastructure disciplines.
• UAE infrastructure and Authority experience is preferred.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.

Road Construction Scope

The Senior Engineer - Roads will provide technical and site supervision across the principal stages of road construction, including earthworks, formation preparation, subgrade, subbase, road base, asphalt layers, kerbs, pedestrian areas, paving, and road markings. The position also requires close oversight of surveying, compaction, field density testing, asphalt quality, inspection hold points, and interfaces with utility infrastructure. Effective coordination will be essential to prevent conflicts between road works and drainage, wet utilities, electrical, telecom, street lighting, landscaping, and other services.
