Job summary

Penspen Ltd in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Senior Process Risk Engineer to identify, assess and mitigate process safety risks, ensuring compliance with client requirements and international standards.

The role focuses on leading process safety studies (HAZID/HAZOP/SIL/ALARP), reviewing SIS/SRS, and coordinating with clients, EPC teams, and contractors to deliver safe, compliant projects across FEED, Detailed Engineering and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process/Safety Engineering.
• 15+ years in oil & gas industry.
• 5+ years in PMC projects.
• Experience in greenfield/brownfield upgrades.
• GCC/Middle East O&G project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead process safety and risk assessments across the project lifecycle.
• Conduct HAZID/HAZOP, SIL, and ALARP studies.
• Review SIS, SRS, matrices, and SIL verification reports.
• Provide design-review input to mitigate process safety risks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients on process safety.
• Support activities across engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Prepare process safety reports and track corrective actions.

Penspen is hiring an experiencedSenior Process Risk Engineerwith a strong PMC experience to join our team in Abu Dhabi.The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating process safety risks,ensuring compliance with client requirements, international standards, and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate process safety and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle, including FEED, Detailed Engineering, and EPC phases.
• Conduct and facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and ALARP studies.
• Review Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), Cause & Effect matrices, and SIL verification reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations to eliminate or mitigate process safety risks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, licensors, contractors, and third-party consultants on process safety matters.
• Support engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities from a process safety perspective.
• Prepare process safety reports, action trackers, and ensure timely close-out of recommendations arising from safety studies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process/Safety Engineering,
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience in the oil and gas industry.
• 5+ years in PMC projects
• Solid background in multi-disciplinary engineering team EPC project.
• Experience supporting procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Strong experience ingreenfield & brownfield terminal and facilities upgrade projects.
• GCC/Middle East oil & gas project experience is preferred.
