Job summary

Penspen in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Senior Process Risk Engineer with a strong PMC background to identify, assess and mitigate process safety risks across FEED, Detailed Engineering and EPC phases, ensuring compliance with client requirements and international standards.

You will lead HAZID/HAZOP/SIL studies, review SIS/SRS, participate in design reviews, coordinate with clients, licensors and contractors, and support from procurement through commissioning and startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Process/Safety Engineering.
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience in the oil and gas industry.
• 5+ years in PMC projects.
• Solid background in multi‑discipline engineering team EPC project.
• Experience supporting procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Strong experience in greenfield & brownfield terminal and facilities upgrade projects.
• GCC/Middle East oil & gas project experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate process safety and risk assessments throughout the project lifecycle, including FEED, Detailed Engineering, and EPC phases.
• Conduct and facilitate HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and ALARP studies.
• Review Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), Cause & Effect matrices, and SIL verification reports.
• Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations to eliminate or mitigate process safety risks.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, licensors, contractors, and third-party consultants on process safety matters.
• Support engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities from a process safety perspective.
• Prepare process safety reports, action trackers, and ensure timely close-out of recommendations arising from safety studies.
