Job summary

Penspen is seeking an experienced Senior I&C & Automation/Telecom Engineer for our Abu Dhabi team. The role focuses on delivering instrumentation, control, automation and telecom engineering across FEED, detailed engineering, EPC and brownfield projects.

The candidate will ensure conformance with client specs and international standards, coordinating with vendors and multidisciplinary teams through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control or related engineering.
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience.
• 5+ years in PMC projects.
• Experience in multidisciplinary EPC projects.
• Experience supporting procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
• Experience with greenfield and brownfield terminal/facilities upgrades.
• GCC/Middle East oil & gas project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute and coordinate Instrumentation, Control, Automation, and Telecom engineering activities for FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and brownfield projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables including instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and system architecture drawings.
• Design and specify field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, F&G, and SIS.
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, FAT, SAT, and design review workshops.
• Review vendor documents and provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve issues and ensure project success.
• Support site surveys, brownfield modifications, troubleshooting, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Ensure activities comply with project quality, HSE, schedule, and budget requirements.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with client specifications, international standards, and project requirements throughout the engineering and project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute and coordinate Instrumentation, Control, Automation, and Telecom engineering activities for FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, and brownfield projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including instrument datasheets, instrument index, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, control narratives, cause & effect charts, logic diagrams, and system architecture drawings.
• Design and specify field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, FAT, SAT, and design review workshops.
• Review vendor documents and provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure successful project execution.
• Support site surveys, brownfield modifications, troubleshooting, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with project quality, HSE, schedule, and budget requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of oil & gas experience in the oil and gas industry.
• 5+ years in PMC projects
• Solid background in multi-disciplinary engineering team EPC project.
• Experience supporting procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Strong experience in greenfield & brownfield terminal and facilities upgrade projects.
• GCC/Middle East oil & gas project experience is preferred.
