Role Context: The Senior Process Engineer - Major Works acts as the production process discipline focal point for complex modifications, expansions, installations, and major engineering projects executed within operating facilities. The position brings practical site operations knowledge into project development so that new systems integrate effectively with existing plant infrastructure. The role works across engineering, operations, contractors, consultants, commissioning teams, and site management to resolve technical interfaces, control scope changes, improve constructability, and ensure projects can be introduced without compromising process safety, production continuity, or long-term operability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead production process engineering involvement in major works from project initiation through execution, commissioning, closeout, and handover to operations.
• Incorporate operational experience into project scopes, technical requirements, execution strategies, and engineering deliverables.
• Participate in reviews of plant layouts, control schemes, specifications, plot plans, operating studies, and three-dimensional design models.
• Coordinate process engineering inputs with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review engineering packages covering scopes of work, process data sheets, schedules, load lists, technical proposals, cost estimates, commissioning procedures, and start-up requirements.
• Identify process design or execution conflicts that could affect ongoing plant operations and develop practical solutions before implementation.
• Manage production and process discipline aspects of site execution while supporting safe and efficient operational performance.
• Ensure project activities are coordinated with production requirements and planned injection targets.
• Identify interface risks between major works, existing facilities, process units, and supporting systems.
• Recommend solutions that minimize unnecessary scope changes and reduce potential impact on project cost and schedule.
• Participate in site surveys to collect operating data, validate existing conditions, and confirm requirements before engineering development.
• Establish process engineering criteria for installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, decommissioning, and operational integration activities.
• Provide process troubleshooting support during construction, commissioning, start-up, and early operation of new or modified facilities.
• Advise plant operations teams on design-related technical issues and support resolution of process performance concerns.
• Coordinate with site teams to ensure appropriate operational involvement throughout project development and execution.
• Communicate project developments, technical changes, commissioning plans, and operational impacts to site operations personnel.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams for new systems, modifications, and process improvement activities.
• Prepare and review Piping and Instrument Diagrams to ensure process functionality, control requirements, isolation philosophy, and operational requirements are properly represented.
• Develop Utility Flow Diagrams covering process support systems and utility requirements.
• Prepare cause and effect tables defining process responses, shutdown requirements, alarms, and control actions.
• Perform equipment sizing calculations based on process conditions, operating envelopes, and project requirements.
• Calculate piping and line sizes using appropriate process engineering criteria.
• Prepare flow summaries covering operating cases, material movement, process requirements, and design conditions.
• Review technical proposals submitted by consultants, contractors, and engineering service providers.
• Assess engineering estimates, process assumptions, and scopes of work for external studies and major project activities.
• Support technical evaluations by identifying process risks, omissions, inconsistencies, and potential operational constraints.
• Ensure major works comply with company engineering practices, applicable industry standards, operating procedures, and process safety requirements.
• Contribute to safe handover of completed facilities by confirming process readiness, documentation completeness, and operational acceptance requirements.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor 's degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant engineering experience within oil and gas, processing, petrochemical, or comparable industrial facilities.
• Strong practical knowledge of process engineering within operating production facilities.
• Experience supporting major projects, plant modifications, brownfield works, or facility expansion programs.
• Familiarity with concept development, detailed engineering, site construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Ability to develop and review Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Utility Flow Diagrams, and cause and effect documentation.
• Practical experience performing process equipment sizing, line sizing, flow calculations, and technical evaluations.
• Strong understanding of production operations and the operational risks associated with executing major works within live facilities.
• Ability to identify interfaces between new systems and existing plant infrastructure and recommend workable engineering solutions.
• Experience reviewing contractor and consultant engineering deliverables, scopes of work, technical proposals, and cost estimates.
• Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to resolve technical and execution issues involving multiple engineering disciplines.
