Job summary

Gulbahar-Tobacco-International-Fze in Dubai (JAFZA) seeks an experienced Senior Making Machine Technician to operate, maintain and optimize cigarette making and packing machinery.

You will lead technicians, coordinate with production teams, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex faults, and ensure safety, quality, and high equipment availability in compliance with company standards.

Location: Dubai (JAFZA)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Making Machine Technician responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of cigarette making and packing machinery. The role will provide technical leadership to technicians and operators, ensure high machine availability, minimize breakdowns, and maintain safe and efficient production in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Operations & Machine Maintenance:

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot cigarette making and packing technologies, including GD121A, DECOUFLE (LOGA3D100, LOGA3D85, NANO 6, NANO 8, NANO 10, TWIN), HAUNI PROTOS.
• Lead troubleshooting activities related to machine runability, quality issues, mechanical failures, electrical faults, and production interruptions.
• Perform advanced mechanical and electrical maintenance, adjustments, alignment, calibration, and component replacement.
• Lead machine setup, changeovers, format changes, adjustments, and optimization according to production requirements.
• Identify recurring machine faults and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability and performance.
• Monitor machine parameters and operating conditions to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Conduct inspections and execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance schedules.
• Support breakdown maintenance and ensure timely restoration of equipment to minimize production downtime.
• Diagnose faults using technical drawings, machine manuals, electrical diagrams, and appropriate measuring instruments.
• Coordinate with production teams to resolve machine-related issues affecting productivity and product quality.

Maintenance & Reliability:

• Plan and execute routine maintenance activities for assigned machinery.
• Inspect, repair, adjust, or replace defective mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
• Verify electrical connections, sensors, motors, drives, control systems, and other machine components.
• Monitor spare-parts requirements and coordinate with the Technical Manager to ensure critical spares are available.
• Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, preventive maintenance, repairs, spare usage, and machine performance.
• Analyze breakdown trends and recommend improvements to reduce recurring failures and unplanned downtime.
• Ensure tools, maintenance equipment, and technical resources are properly maintained and stored.

Team Leadership & People Management:

• Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to technicians and machine operators.
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities during assigned shifts.
• Support the training and development of junior technicians in machine operation, troubleshooting, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
• Allocate technical tasks effectively and monitor completion within required timelines.
• Communicate effectively with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and other relevant departments to resolve operational issues.
• Submit accurate shift and daily maintenance reports to the Technical Manager.

Safety, Quality & Compliance:

• Ensure all maintenance and operational activities comply with company HSE, quality, 5S, and operational standards.
• Conduct maintenance activities in accordance with approved safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Identify and immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, and potential operational risks.
• Ensure machines and work areas are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
• Support investigations of equipment-related incidents, breakdowns, and quality deviations.
• Ensure assigned machines remain technically fit and operational throughout the production shift.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, discipline, quality, and continuous improvement.

Profile:

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and industrial automation systems.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex machinery and identify root causes of equipment failures.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, machine manuals, and technical documentation.
• Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies.
• Strong understanding of machine setup, changeover, adjustment, and optimization.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork capabilities.

Experience:

• 5–8 years of relevant experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or machinery operations.
• Relevant experience in the Tobacco/Cigarette Manufacturing Industry is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with DECOUFLE, HAUNI PROTOS, GD121A, or similar cigarette making and packing technologies will be highly advantageous.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and maintaining high-speed production machinery.
• Previous experience in a Senior Technician, Lead Technician, or equivalent technical role is preferred.

Education:

• Diploma / Associate Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Additional technical certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, automation, or machinery maintenance will be an advantage.
