Wood is recruiting for a Senior/Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline/Piping/Mechanical) to join its UAE Business Unit focusing on delivering the portfolio/project within schedule/budget for a Major Onshore Brownfield Project in Sharjah, UAE on a 5/2 work schedule. This role is a full‑time, office‑based position in Sharjah, UAE.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as supply chain, construction and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. Projects include both greenfield and brownfield modification projects and integrating low‑carbon solutions to support our client’s energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key Objectives

  • Steward the delivery of portfolio/project within schedule/budget, with due focus on internal/external stakeholders’ requirements/satisfaction
  • Maintain positive customer relationship, fostering and enhancing relationship management with open, honest and effective communication
  • Establish work orders WBS structure and alignment of proposals & CTR development with an emphasis on scope development
  • Ensure interface management, liaising with the client’s engineering, operations and maintenance staff from inception to close‑out
  • Establish project performance evaluation mechanism/KPIs – baseline schedule/PMS/Dashboards and regular updates of the same
  • Review/ input financial reports: monthly cost reports, monitoring of expenditures (VOWD / WIP), estimate to complete (ETC)
  • Ensure engineering/procurement/construction are being executed as per the schedule/budget
  • Liaison with engineering disciplines / document controls for generation & maintenance of deliverable register (MDR)
  • Oversee LLI procurements (MR/TBEs/vendor docs/delivery) are being done as per plan & budgets
  • Establish excellent working relationship with construction contractors in country, ensuring adequate reporting mechanisms are in place
  • Identify potential risks, flag those for impact assessment and explore mitigatory measures
  • Review & approve progress reports / milestone invoices from various vendors and endorse to register in the system
  • Coordinate preparation/submission of final documentation dossier
  • Prepare project close‑out report/secure approvals and handing over
  • Manage resourcing trends/ forecasts across the portfolio and address re‑allocation/mobilisation requirements upfront
  • Generate contracting and tendering strategies/plan, coordinate/assist ITT preps, administer bid evaluation process
  • Ensure day‑to‑day operations maintain alignment with overall corporate policy, strategy, and direction
  • Interact with the project sponsor/customer, regularly reviewing and reporting project progress to senior management and/or sponsor/customer
  • Support in recruitment, selection, and development of talent, ensuring performance standards to achieve continuous performance improvement
  • Assist leadership and peers to improve delivery performance, recognize customer needs beyond the immediate scope and maximise delivery opportunities throughout wider business where required
