Job summary
Penspen Ltd in Abu Dhabi, UAE is seeking an experienced Specialist Instrument & Control Engineer to provide technical oversight of instrumentation, control and automation activities on a major upstream oil and gas project. The role focuses on reviewing EPC contractor deliverables, ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams through FEED to commissioning.
15+ years of relevant experience are expected.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in instrumentation or electronics engineering.
- 15+ years of oil & gas instrumentation and control experience.
- Upstream oil & gas project experience.
- PMC/Owner’s Engineer experience desirable.
- ADNOC standards knowledge preferred.
- Strong knowledge of SIS, SIL, LOPA and functional safety.
- Experience reviewing 3D models and instrument installations.
- Excellent coordination across disciplines and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Review instrumentation and control deliverables from EPC contractor.
- Review P&IDs, I/O lists, datasheets, logic diagrams and alarm schedules.
- Review instrument specifications, valves, ESD, PLC/DCS and SCADA systems.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards and applicable international codes.
- Review instrument layouts, cable schedules and installation details.
- Provide input on DCS/ESD interfaces and safety systems.
- Coordinate with Process, Electrical, Mechanical, Telecom and other disciplines.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA and design reviews.
- Review SIL assessments and functional safety documentation.
- Support through FEED to commissioning and handover.
