• UAE experience in a similar transportation contracting company strongly preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other estimation software.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents.

Job Description

Desert Man Transporting and Contracting LLC Abu Dhabi is looking for an experienced Senior Estimation Engineer with a strong background in transportation infrastructure civil works and contracting. The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience working with a contracting or transportation company involved in similar business activities. The candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, reviewing tender documents, coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting the company in securing profitable projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, BOQs, scope of work and contract requirements.
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for transportation, civil, infrastructure, and contracting works.
• Analyze project requirements and identify materials, manpower, equipment, plant, and transportation requirements.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and pricing for tenders and projects.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, rate analysis, and commercial comparisons.
• Develop competitive tender pricing while maintaining acceptable profit margins.
• Coordinate with the operations, procurement, commercial, and management teams during the estimation process.
• Identify potential risks, exclusions, assumptions, and commercial considerations in tender documents.
• Prepare tender submissions, commercial proposals, and supporting documentation.
• Review historical project costs and market rates to improve estimating accuracy.
• Conduct site visits when required to understand project conditions and scope.
• Assist management with tender strategy, cost planning, and project budgeting.
• Maintain an organized database of rates, supplier quotations, subcontractor prices, and previous project costs.
• Follow up with clients and consultants for tender clarifications when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in estimation and tendering.
• Strong experience in transportation, civil works, infrastructure, earthworks, equipment, and contracting.
• UAE experience in a similar transportation contracting company strongly preferred.
• Candidates with experience estimating projects involving trucks, heavy equipment, manpower, transportation services, site works, and related contracting activities will have an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, rate analysis, and cost estimation.
• Good understanding of UAE construction and contracting market rates.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other relevant estimation software.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight tender deadlines.
• UAE driving license is an advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked for transportation, civil contracting, infrastructure, plant equipment rental, or similar companies in Abu Dhabi UAE and understand the commercial and operational requirements of this type of business. Candidates with only general building construction estimation experience and no relevant transportation contracting experience may not be suitable for this position. Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in estimation and tendering.
