Job summary

ORYX ROYAL GENERAL CONTRACTING seeks a Civil Estimator/Quantity Surveyor in Abu Dhabi to deliver accurate cost estimates and take-offs for diverse civil projects. You will review drawings, prepare BOQs, and price tenders ensuring comprehensive documentation and commercial viability.

You should have UAE experience in estimation/tendering, strong Excel/AutoCAD skills, and a track record of managing costs from initial pricing through to variation orders. Abu Dhabi market familiarity is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Proven UAE experience in Estimation/Quantity Surveying/Tendering.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off and construction pricing.
  • Good understanding of UAE construction material, labor and subcontractor rates.
  • Ability to read and analyze AutoCAD drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of estimation/quantity surveying software is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, negotiation and cost-control skills.
  • Previous experience with a General Contracting company in the UAE is highly preferred.
  • Abu Dhabi construction market experience will be given preference.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review BOQ for construction projects.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and project pricing, including materials, manpower, equipment, subcontractors, overheads, contingency, and profit margins.
  • Analyze project requirements and prepare complete cost breakdowns before quotation or tender submission.
  • Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings where required for pricing and quantity purposes.
  • Prepare and price tenders, RFQs, quotations, and variation orders.
  • Obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and prepare comparison sheets.
  • Calculate material requirements and manpower requirements for projects.
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations and negotiate competitive rates in coordination with management.
  • Prepare project budgets and monitor estimated costs against actual project costs.
  • Prepare and review interim payment applications, progress claims, and subcontractor payments.
  • Identify variations, additional works, omissions, and potential commercial risks.
  • Conduct site visits when necessary to verify quantities, scope of work, and project conditions.
  • Coordinate with Project Engineers, Procurement, Finance, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain updated databases of material prices, labor rates, subcontractor rates, and historical project costs.
  • Support management in determining competitive pricing and expected project profit margins.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, CQS, or equivalent are highly valued.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in civil estimation and quantity surveying.
