Role Overview:
The Senior Consulting Engineer will lead end-to-end CFD consultingengagements for aerospace and other industry clients, from technical scopingand proposal development through project execution, technical review, customercommunication and final delivery. The engineer will also deliver training, mentor engineers, and rapidly develop capability in new application areas asrequired. A key focus of the role is aircraft icing simulation in support ofcustomer certification programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadtechnical scoping and proposal preparation, including the technical approach, assumptions, deliverables, effort and cost estimates, schedule, risks, dependencies and exclusions.
- Ownend-to-end consulting project execution: define the work plan and milestones, manage technical risks, coordinate customer reviews, maintain projectdocumentation, and ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Provideexpert consultation and execute CFD simulations for aerospace applications, including external/internal aerodynamics, compressible flow, turbulence, heattransfer, conjugate heat transfer, multiphase modeling and FSI-relatedworkflows.
- Lead andexecute aircraft icing simulations using Ansys FENSAP-ICE, covering dropletimpingement, ice accretion, aerodynamic performance degradation with iceshapes, and thermal anti-/de-icing analysis.
- Preparehigh-quality technical reports and present findings, limitations andengineering recommendations to customer technical and management teams.
- Conductcomprehensive online and onsite training for customers, ensuring alignment withtheir project needs.
- Developcustomized training materials and workshops using the Ansys Fluids Portfolio.
- Applyadvanced problem-solving skills and rapidly learn new concepts andtechnologies.
- Travel upto 20% as required.
Minimum Education /Expertise Needed:
- MS/PhD inAerospace Engineering, with a strong aerospace/aerodynamics background.
- 5+ yearsof hands-on CFD experience, including significant aerospace project experience;customer-facing consulting or engineering services experience is stronglypreferred.
- Strongfoundation in aerodynamics, compressible flow, turbulence, heat transfer andmultiphase models.
- In-depthknowledge of aerospace fundamentals including external aerodynamics, flightmechanics, stability analysis and aeroelasticity.
- Hands-onexperience with ANSYS Fluent, including turbulence and multiphase modeling.
- Hands-onexperience with Ansys FENSAP-ICE (or equivalent icing tools such as LEWICE) anda working understanding of icing physics is strongly preferred; candidateswithout direct FENSAP-ICE experience must demonstrate the ability to rapidlylearn and independently apply new simulation technologies to customer projects.
- Additionalexpertise in radiation, DPM, species transport, and MDM models is a plus.
- Experiencewith ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS SpaceClaim, Fluent Meshing, and high-performancecomputing (HPC) for large-scale simulations.
- Proficiencyin scripting with Python and User Defined Functions (UDFs) in Fluent.
- Exposureto Ansys System Coupling/Mechanical for FSI workflows is an added advantage.
