Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks a Principal Applied Aerodynamics Engineer to take technical ownership of aerodynamic products and develop robust, evidence-based predictions across the design cycle. The role requires strong intuition, disciplined judgment, and the ability to craft a mental model of flow physics before reviewing results.

The position involves defining requirements, planning analyses (analytical, empirical, CFD, wind tunnel), and delivering high-fidelity aerodynamic data for integration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computational Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Aerodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, CFD, Aircraft Design, Experimental Aerodynamics, or a related field preferred.
• Typically 10+ years of relevant aerospace or applied-fluid-dynamics experience.
• Experience with lift, drag, stability, control, and aircraft configuration development.
• Proficiency with CFD tools and geometry, meshing, post-processing, scripting, and automation environments.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Develop aerodynamic concepts and configurations to meet aircraft-level requirements.
• Evaluate wing, tail, canard, fuselage, nacelle, and other configurations.
• Define aerodynamic requirements and design objectives for work packages.
• Establish aerodynamic analysis plans using analytical, empirical, computational, and experimental methods.
• Perform uncertainty, sensitivity, and design-of-experiments studies.
• Support wind-tunnel testing and data interpretation.
