Job summary

EDGE, headquartered in the UAE and based in Abu Dhabi, seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for Halcon to design, develop, test, and verify safety-critical real-time embedded software for defence and aerospace systems.

You will drive the full software lifecycle from requirements to integration, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of embedded software development experience with strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded systems, device drivers, and low-level hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Experience with software verification, debugging tools, version control systems (Git/SVN), and requirements management tools such as DOORS or JAMA.
• Knowledge of MISRA C/C++ standards and familiarity with DO-178C software development and certification processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions using C/C++ for real-time and safety-critical applications.
• Derive low-level software requirements, architecture, and design from higher-level system and software specifications.
• Perform software integration, verification, debugging, and validation activities, including SIL, HIL, and hardware-software integration testing.
• Participate in technical reviews, prepare engineering documentation, and mentor junior engineers on software development best practices.
