Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer for Halcon to design, develop, test, and verify safety-critical real-time embedded software for advanced defence and aerospace systems. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities include deriving low-level requirements, architecture, integration, verification, and mentoring junior engineers, with emphasis on C/C++ and real-time restrictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of embedded software development with strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS and/or bare-metal embedded systems, device drivers, and low-level hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
• Experience with software verification, debugging tools, version control systems such as Git/SVN, and requirements management tools such as DOORS or JAMA.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer for Halcon to design, develop, test, and verify safety-critical real-time embedded software for advanced defence and aerospace systems. The successful candidate will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements decomposition and architecture design to integration, verification, and technical leadership.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in embedded software development with strong proficiency in C/C++.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in defence, aerospace, aviation, missile systems, UAVs, or other safety-critical environments.
• Knowledge of MISRA C/C++ standards and familiarity with DO-178C software development and certification processes.
