Job summary

GECO M&E LTD is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Power Division in the UAE. The successful candidate will lead HV/EHV substation design or HV/EHV underground cable design for utility and infrastructure projects, preparing engineering designs and supporting execution from concept through commissioning.

Key tasks include GA layouts, SLDs, cable routing, sizing calculations, and review of vendor submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Power Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering calculations and technical documentation.
• Support procurement by reviewing vendor offers and technical submittals.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and utility authorities.
• Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, utility standards and company quality procedures.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Power Division. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in either HV/EHV Substation Design or HV/EHV Underground Cable Design for utility and infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing engineering designs, ensuring compliance with utility standards, and supporting project execution from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

For Substation Design Engineers

• Prepare and review primary electrical designs for HV/EHV substations.
• Develop General Arrangement (GA), equipment layout, section, and foundation interface drawings.
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), equipment schedules, and design calculations.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals.
• Coordinate with civil, protection, control, and telecom disciplines.
• Ensure designs comply with utility authority standards and project specifications.

For Cable Design Engineers

• Prepare cable routing and cable layout drawings for HV/EHV underground cable projects.
• Perform cable sizing, ampacity, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations.
• Design cable trench layouts, duct banks, joint bay layouts, and cable schedules.
• Review cable installation methodologies and vendor documentation.
• Coordinate with utility authorities and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and utility requirements.

General Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering calculations and technical documentation.

Experience

Candidates should have strong experience in Either of the following disciplines:

Option 1: Substation Design

• HV/EHV Substation Design
• Equipment Layout
• General Arrangement Drawings
• Primary Electrical Design
• GIS/AIS Substations

OR

Option 2: Cable Design

• HV/EHV Underground Cable Design
• Cable Layout & Routing
• Cable Sizing & Design Calculations
• Cable Trench & Duct Bank Design
• Joint Bay Design

Preferred Experience

• Utility projects in the UAE or GCC.
• Experience with authorities such as DEWA, SEWA, TRANSCO, ADDC, AADC, or equivalent utilities.
• EPC or engineering consultancy experience.

Technical Skills
