Job summary

MPH in Dubai seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and review for MV/LV systems in water and wastewater projects.

You will prepare electrical design basis reports, SLDs, and BOMs, perform ETAP load flow/short circuit studies, and ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE/ATEX standards while coordinating with civil, mechanical, and process teams.

The role requires strong English communication and proven consultancy experience in the UAE region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (SOE) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 15 years of electrical and I&C experience with water and wastewater projects.
• Engineering consultancy experience required.
• Excellent English communication and client-facing skills.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, ATEX standards.
• MV/LV distribution and substation design knowledge.
• Ability to read schematic wiring of electrical/control panels.
• Familiarity with ETAP-based load flow, short-circuit, motor starting studies.
• Experience interfacing with Civil/Mechanical/Process teams and other packaged equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Basic & Detailed Design Engineering, Review and Preparation of the following documents and drawings:

A- ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

• Electrical Design Basis Report.
• SLD for MV/LV distribution systems.
• Plant Electrical Load Lists.
• Sizing Calculations for Transformer, Generator, APFC, Cables, UPS, DC System, Etc.
• Electrical Equipment GAs.
• Load Flow and Short Circuit Calculation (ETAP).
• Earthing & Lightning Calculation
• Lighting and small power design.
• Specification, Datasheet, Vendor Data Review of Generators, Transformers, Motor, MV/LV Switch Gears, VFD/SS Panels, Capacitor & Reactors, Bus Ducts, Cables, AC & DC UPS etc.
• Hazardous Area Classification
• Electrical Layout Drawings, Cable routing Drawing, Earthing & Lightning Layout, Lighting Layout.
• BoQs for Electrical Equipment.
• Specifications for Electrical Equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Chartered Engineer, SOE certified, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in Electrical and I&C with relevant experience in Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and Pumping stations is a must.
• Must have engineering consultancy experience.
• Excellent communication in English and client-facing skills.
• Knowledge of International codes and Standards (IEC, IEEE, ISA, NEC, ATEX)
• Knowledge of Standards and Specification of major clients in utility section in Saudi, UAE, Oman, Qatar region.
• MV/LV distribution system design.
• MV/LV Substation Design.
• Knowledge on how to read schematic wiring of various electrical and control panels.
• Knowledge of MV/LV Switchgears, MCCs, MV and LV VFD panels, Transformers, Generators, UPS, DC System, etc.
• Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis, Motor Starting Study, Arc Flash and Protection coordination study using ETAP software.
• Instruments, Analyzers, Sensors working principle and its selection as per measurement medium, working condition and Hazardous zone classifications.
• Process Control & Safety Systems (DCS, PLC, ESD and F&G)
• Safety and Security systems like CCTV, Access Control System, Intrusion Protection System, PAGA and Telecomm Systems, Public WIFI.
• Vibration and Condition Monitoring Systems
• Ethernet, Field Bus, Profibus, MODBUS, IEC61850, DNP3 segments, IOT systems, ICT networks / Fiber Optics Networks, Power Line Communication and Wireless communication
• Substation Automation system and interface to various switchgears, control panels etc. and Energy Management system
• Knowledge of HAZOP and CHAZOP review and SIL calculation Study.
• Interface skills in departments like Civil, Mechanical, Process, HVAC etc. and other Packaged Equipment.
• 3D Model Review.
