Job summary

ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Civil/Structural Design Coordinator to lead civil and structural design tasks for EHV substations, ensuring timely, accurate deliverables in line with project requirements.

You will act as the focal point among the consulting engineer, EPC contractor, client, and internal teams; review drawings, manage RFIs, TQs, design clarifications, and ensure interfaces with electrical/MEP works using AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM-tools.

• Coordinate civil and structural design activities for EHV substations to meet project requirements.
• Review and coordinate design deliverables for completeness, constructability, and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate RFIs / TQs, design clarifications, and design change notices.
• Review general arrangement drawings, foundation schedules and material submittals.
• Ensure civil deliverables align with electrical and MEP requirements and resolve interface gaps.

Job description

• Coordinate all civil and structural design activities related to EHV substation projects to ensure timely and accurate development of engineering deliverables in compliance with project requirements.
• Act as the focal point for civil design coordination between the engineering consultant, EPC contractor, client, and internal project teams.
• Review submitted drawings and documents for completeness, technical consistency, constructability and interface compliance prior to submission to the client/consultant.
• Support the preparation, review and coordination of:
  • RFIs / TQs
  • Design clarifications
  • Design change notices
  • Value engineering proposals where applicable
• Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural design for EHV substations, including:
  • Reinforced concrete design concepts for heavy equipment foundations and buildings
  • Steel structure foundations and structural interfaces
  • Building layouts and substation civil arrangement requirements
  • Cable trench, duct bank and utility corridor design coordination
  • Site grading, earthworks and finished level coordination
  • Drainage, oil containment and external infrastructure works
• Ability to review and coordinate:
  • Design basis reports
  • General arrangement drawings
  • Civil and structural design drawings
  • Foundation schedules and structural details
  • Technical specifications, BOQs and material submittals
• Strong capability in multidisciplinary design coordination, ensuring all civil deliverables are aligned with electrical and MEP requirements.
• Ability to identify design clashes, constructability issues, missing information and interface gaps at early stages.
• Proficiency in reviewing and coordinating engineering deliverables using:
  • AutoCAD
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • PDF mark-up / document review tools
  • Familiarity with BIM / Navisworks / common data environment platforms is an advantage
