Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills for evaluating quantities, costs and risk.
• Effective communication with project teams and clients during bid processes.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings and tender documents to define scope.
• Prepare quantity take-offs for civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical components.
• Obtain competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers for materials, equipment and services.
• Develop cost estimates including direct and indirect costs such as overhead and contingencies.
• Identify risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and stakeholders to align estimates with goals.
• Present cost breakdowns and explanations to management and clients.
• Maintain a database of cost information and supplier contacts for bids.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits for accurate estimation.
• Assist in tender documents and proposals ensuring all requirements are met.
• Stay updated on industry trends and material costs to improve accuracy.
• Provide value engineering suggestions to optimize costs without affecting scope.
