Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations) to lead supervision of civil and structural works for high‑voltage substations. You will ensure construction aligns with design specs, quality, safety, and schedule, acting as on-site representative coordinating with contractors and stakeholders.

The role requires 15+ years in civil construction supervision, with 10+ years on 132kV+ substations, and experience with GIS/AIS substations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
Professional Engineer/Chartered Engineer certification is advantageous.
Minimum 15 years of civil engineering and construction supervision experience.
Minimum 10 years on 132 kV and above substation projects.
GIS and AIS substations experience mandatory.
Consultancy/site supervision experience preferred in UAE/GCC utilities.

Responsibilities

Supervise civil works for GIS/AIS substations including control buildings, foundations, trenches, walls, roads and utilities.
Monitor contractor performance, progress and compliance with drawings and specs.
Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, RFIs and method statements.
Ensure QA/QC and HSE compliance across works.
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, protection and commissioning teams.
Liaise with clients, contractors and utility authorities.
Review progress reports, variations and contractor claims.
Support testing, commissioning, handover and close-out activities.
