Job summary
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer – Civil (Substations) in the UAE to lead on-site civil and structural supervision for GIS/AIS substations. You will ensure construction aligns with design specs, safety standards, and project timelines while coordinating with contractors and internal teams.
The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer status as an advantage, and at least 15 years of civil construction supervision experience, including 10+ years on
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer/Chartered Engineer is an advantage.
- Minimum 15 years of civil engineering and construction supervision experience.
- Minimum 10 years on 132kV+ substation projects.
- GIS/AIS substations experience; consultancy/site supervision required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all civil works related to GIS/AIS substations, including control buildings, transformer and gantry foundations, cable trenches, boundary walls, roads, drainage, and utilities.
- Monitor contractor performance, progress, and compliance with drawings and specs.
- Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and method statements.
- Ensure QA/QC and HSE compliance; coordinate with electrical, mechanical, protection, and commissioning teams.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and utility authorities; review progress reports and contractor claims.
- Support testing, commissioning, project handover, and close-out activities.
