The Senior Automotive Technician will support workshop efficiency by accurately identifying faults, completing repairs correctly the first time, and helping resolve technically difficult vehicle problems. The position requires strong hands-on diagnostic capability combined with careful interpretation of wiring diagrams, manufacturer service information, test results, and repair procedures. In addition to carrying out maintenance and repair work, the technician will assist less experienced colleagues with complex diagnostics, identify additional repair requirements during inspections, and prepare clear technical reports for warranty and repair purposes. Consistent workmanship and safe use of workshop tools will directly influence vehicle reliability, turnaround time, customer satisfaction, and aftersales performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults across assigned vehicles.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and corrective repairs accurately and efficiently.
• Use diagnostic equipment, workshop tools, and testing instruments in accordance with safe operating procedures.
• Interpret complex vehicle wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and manufacturer service literature.
• Carry out fault tracing for electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, control units, and related vehicle systems.
• Complete mechanical and electrical repair work to required workshop and manufacturer standards.
• Verify repair quality through functional testing and post-repair inspections.
• Identify additional defects or maintenance requirements while vehicles are undergoing service or repair.
• Recommend legitimate additional repairs based on vehicle condition and technical findings.
• Communicate identified work requirements clearly to Service Advisors or relevant workshop personnel.
• Prepare accurate technical reports for warranty claims, repair authorization, and maintenance records.
• Document diagnostic findings, repair actions, replaced components, and test results.
• Assist other technicians when complex or recurring vehicle faults require advanced diagnostic support.
• Share technical knowledge with workshop colleagues to improve fault-finding efficiency.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and technical specifications during all assigned work.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and avoid unnecessary repeat repairs.
• Ensure tools, equipment, diagnostic devices, and work areas are used safely and responsibly.
• Support workshop productivity by completing assigned jobs within reasonable repair times.
• Escalate difficult technical issues when additional engineering or manufacturer support is required.
• Maintain awareness of evolving vehicle technologies, diagnostic procedures, and electronic systems.
• Apply electric vehicle knowledge where relevant to diagnosis, maintenance, or repair activities.
• Follow workshop safety procedures when working around electrical, high-voltage, mechanical, and moving components.
• Operate and road-test vehicles when authorized and required for diagnosis or repair verification.
• Maintain a valid driver 's license appropriate for assigned workshop duties.

Ideal Profile

The preferred candidate has substantial hands-on automotive workshop experience with strong capability in both diagnostics and vehicle repair. A solid understanding of mechanical systems, automotive electrical circuits, electronic control systems, sensors, actuators, and vehicle communication networks is important. Candidates should be confident reading advanced wiring diagrams and using technical service literature to trace difficult faults. Experience with diagnostic scan tools, electrical testing equipment, multimeters, workshop repair equipment, and manufacturer-specific diagnostic procedures will be valuable. Strong workmanship is essential, particularly when completing repairs that affect vehicle safety, reliability, drivability, or warranty coverage. The role requires the ability to recognize additional repair needs and communicate findings professionally without compromising technical integrity.
