Role Context

The General Repair Technician supports workshop productivity and customer satisfaction by diagnosing vehicle faults correctly and completing repairs to manufacturer and dealership standards. The position combines routine mechanical work with diagnostic testing across engine, transmission, braking, suspension, air conditioning, electrical, and hybrid systems. Working closely with the Workshop Manager, Service Advisors, Controllers, Foremen, Technical Advisors, and fellow technicians, the role contributes to efficient repair turnaround and reliable first-time fixes. Accurate diagnosis and adherence to the Fix It Right process are especially important for preventing repeat repairs and maintaining service quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and general mechanical repairs on Toyota and Lexus vehicles.
• Diagnose vehicle faults using approved diagnostic equipment and Special Service Tools.
• Inspect engine systems and identify mechanical or electronic issues affecting vehicle performance.
• Evaluate transmission condition and assist with diagnosis and repair of transmission-related faults.
• Inspect brake systems and complete required mechanical repairs or component replacement.
• Diagnose suspension problems and perform corrective mechanical work according to workshop procedures.
• Test air conditioning systems and replace faulty AC components when required.
• Troubleshoot vehicle electrical systems using diagnostic tools, technical information, and systematic testing.
• Carry out basic diagnosis and repair support for hybrid vehicle systems within approved technical procedures.
• Perform unit repairs and component replacement based on confirmed diagnostic findings.
• Follow the Fix It Right process to improve first-time repair quality and minimize repeat workshop visits.
• Support Technical Advisors in collecting diagnostic information for Repair Support Requests.
• Assist with preparation of Branch Field Technical Reports for cases requiring escalation to the Aftersales Distributor Team.
• Read and interpret technical data, repair instructions, diagnostic results, and workshop documentation.
• Record accurate repair information, findings, measurements, and completed work within job orders.
• Use Special Service Tools correctly and maintain awareness of applicable workshop safety procedures.
• Coordinate with Service Advisors, Controllers, Foremen, and other technicians to maintain efficient repair flow.
• Escalate complex or unresolved technical problems according to established dealership procedures.
• Participate in practical technical training to improve diagnostic and mechanical capabilities.
• Follow Al-Futtaim Toyota aftersales procedures and manufacturer repair standards throughout each assigned job.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a technical diploma, ITI Industrial Training Institute NCVT Certificate, ITC qualification, or another relevant automotive technical certification. The position requires 2-3 years of experience as a Diagnostic Technician or automotive repair technician, preferably gained within a large dealership environment. Candidates should be comfortable carrying out both diagnostic work and general mechanical repairs. Hands-on capability with engine, transmission, brake, suspension, air conditioning, electrical, and hybrid systems is important. Experience using dealership diagnostic equipment and Special Service Tools is also required. The successful candidate should be able to read and interpret technical information, accurately document work completed, and follow established workshop protocols. English communication skills are necessary for daily coordination and technical documentation. A valid UAE driving license is considered an advantage.
