Job summary

Modon in Abu Dhabi seeks a Senior Associate – Landscaping Engineer to lead landscaping operations across community common areas, supervise service providers, ensure adherence to SLAs, and maintain high aesthetic and safety standards.

You will coordinate maintenance across planting, irrigation, lighting, and hardscape, review budgets, monitor water usage, and drive improvements while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Engineering, Agriculture/Horticulture Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing landscaping operations for common areas and large communities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAFM tools and local UAE regulations is advantageous.

Job description

As Senior Associate – Landscaping Engineer, you will have to manage and oversee landscaping operations across the community common area, including residential and mixed‑use communities. The Senior Associate – Landscaping Engineer ensures the effective delivery of landscaping maintenance services, supervision and performance management of landscaping Service Provider, operational efficiency, compliance with environmental and safety standards to achieve high levels of aesthetic quality and community satisfaction.

Landscaping Operations Management
  • Manage and oversee landscaping operations across common areas, including hardscape and softscape elements in the community.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day performance of appointed landscaping service providers, ensuring compliance with SLAs, contract requirements, and landscaping best practices.
  • Periodically review the manpower requirements for landscaping and advise amendments if required to optimize the operations.
Service Provider Performance & Contract Management
  • Monitor contractor performance through routine reviews and periodical evaluations including but not limited to SLA and KPI adherence.
  • Provide feedback, identify performance gaps, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
Regular Landscaping Inspections
  • Conduct in‑depth periodic inspections of landscaped areas, irrigation systems including visual inspection of lighting, water features, and outdoor furniture to identify maintenance needs, defects, and safety concerns in the landscaped areas.
  • Ensure aesthetic quality and horticultural standards are consistently maintained.
Maintenance Coordination & Oversight
  • Coordinate and supervise preventive, reactive and corrective maintenance works related to planting, irrigation, soil treatment, turf management, pruning, trimming, pest control, and hardscape repairs.
  • Manage work orders, liaise with vendors, and ensure timely and quality service execution.
Capital & Improvement Projects Support
  • Support landscaping enhancement and improvement projects, including refurbishments, replanting programs, irrigation upgrades, and seasonal beautification initiatives starting from planning through execution till handover and takeover.
  • Address landscaping‑related inquiries and concerns raised by residents, tenants, and stakeholders.
  • Provide timely updates on ongoing works, improvements, or disruptions within common areas.
Sustainability, Water & Resource Management
  • Monitor irrigation water consumption and support implementation of water‑saving initiatives, efficient irrigation practices, and sustainable landscaping solutions.
  • Promote environmentally responsible landscaping practices aligned with community sustainability goals.
  • Monitor landscaping materials, plants, equipment, tools, and consumables inventory.
  • Support procurement planning to ensure uninterrupted landscaping operations.
  • Ensure landscaping operations fully comply with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and Modon Community Management policies.
  • Ensure safe working practices, use of approved materials, and proper chemical handling (fertilizers, pesticides).
QHSE Management & Implementation
  • Lead implementation of QHSE procedures for landscaping activities in alignment with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ensure hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures are effectively applied within scope.
Incident, Risk & Audit Management
  • Ensure timely reporting of incidents, near‑misses, or unsafe conditions within landscaped areas.
  • Support investigations, corrective actions, audits, inspections, and closure of identified findings.
  • Support emergency response readiness related to outdoor areas, including access routes, assembly points, and landscape‑related risks.
  • Act as site‑level support from a landscaping and environmental safety perspective during emergencies.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records for landscaping activities, inspections, maintenance schedules, and contractor performance.
  • Prepare regular reports on landscaping condition, KPIs, water usage, and service provider performance.
  • Assist Senior Manager - Technical to prepare periodical landscaping management and performance report.
Additional Duties

Perform any other duties as assigned by management to support departmental objectives and overall community standards.

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Engineering, Agriculture/Horticulture Engineering, or a related discipline.

Professional Certifications (Preferred)
  • Third party training certifications associated with landscaping in the UAE.
  • Certifications in irrigation systems, sustainability, or environmental management are an advantage.
Experience
  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in landscaping services, preferably in mixed‑use developments or large‑scale communities.
  • Proven experience managing landscaping operations for common areas, including softscape, hardscape, and irrigation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of landscaping systems, including softscape, hardscape and irrigation systems.
  • Familiar with local authority regulations, environmental standards, and use of CAFM tools for landscaping service management.
  • Ability to manage landscape service providers, vendors, budgets, and incident response related to common areas.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD (preferred), and reporting tools.
