GEMS International School - Dubai Hills in Dubai seeks a Secondary Mathematics Teacher for the IB continuum. You will plan and deliver inquiry-driven lessons, apply conceptual understanding, and assess students to inform teaching.

The role emphasizes differentiation, collaboration with Mathematics colleagues, curriculum development, and supporting student wellbeing within an inclusive, internationally minded learning community. A strong IB background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Recognised degree-level teaching qualification such as a B.Ed, PGCE, State Teaching License, or equivalent.
• Academic or professional specialism in Mathematics.
• Minimum three years of successful Secondary Mathematics teaching experience.
• Previous IB MYP or IB DP teaching experience is highly desirable.
• Strong A-Level Mathematics experience is preferred for candidates moving into the IB environment without previous IB teaching exposure.
• Thorough understanding of secondary Mathematics concepts, curriculum sequencing, assessment, and effective instructional practice.
• Ability to create inquiry-based and concept-driven learning rather than relying solely on procedural instruction.
• Evidence of successfully supporting students with different academic abilities and learning requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver stimulating Secondary Mathematics lessons built around inquiry, conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
• Teach Mathematics through approaches appropriate to the school 's international curriculum, supporting progression toward demanding secondary qualifications.
• Create a classroom culture where students are encouraged to question, investigate, explain mathematical reasoning, and learn confidently from challenge.
• Differentiate instruction, resources, and learning activities to accommodate different levels of attainment and individual learning needs.
• Design meaningful assessments and monitor academic progress using student performance data to guide subsequent teaching.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback that helps students understand their strengths and identify specific areas for improvement.
• Work collaboratively with Mathematics colleagues and wider academic teams on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and effective teaching practice.
• Build productive relationships with students and maintain clear communication with parents regarding progress, learning expectations, and development.
• Embed the principles of the IB Learner Profile within classroom practice and encourage students to become reflective, knowledgeable, and internationally minded learners.

Role Context

This position supports the development of mathematically confident students who can reason independently, investigate unfamiliar problems, and apply concepts beyond routine classroom exercises.

Working within the full International Baccalaureate continuum at GEMS International School - Dubai Hills, the teacher will combine strong Mathematics subject knowledge with concept-driven instruction, purposeful assessment, and differentiated learning.
