Role Overview
The Science Coordinator Teacher supports consistent and effective science teaching across the school while maintaining responsibility for assigned classes. The position aligns lesson delivery, assessments, resources, and instructional practices with British curriculum expectations, guides teachers, reviews student performance, and introduces practical improvement measures to strengthen classroom practice, increase scientific understanding, and improve academic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with British curriculum standards.
- Coordinate the implementation and review of the science curriculum across relevant grade levels.
- Develop schemes of work, curriculum maps, lesson expectations, and assessment schedules.
- Support science teachers with lesson planning, teaching strategies, practical activities, and classroom resources.
- Conduct lesson observations and provide constructive developmental feedback.
- Monitor curriculum coverage and ensure consistent teaching standards across classes.
- Review student attainment and progress data to identify learning gaps and improvement priorities.
- Coordinate formative and summative assessments, moderation, and evaluation of student work.
- Develop academic interventions for students who require additional science support.
- Promote inquiry‑based learning, experimentation, scientific reasoning, and practical investigation.
- Ensure laboratory activities follow appropriate safety procedures and school policies.
- Assist teachers in differentiating instruction for students with varied learning needs.
- Organise science projects, competitions, exhibitions, enrichment activities, and educational events.
- Maintain subject documentation required for internal reviews and school inspections.
- Lead science department meetings and contribute to whole‑school improvement planning.
- Support professional development through coaching, model lessons, workshops, and collaborative planning.
- Communicate effectively with school leadership, teachers, students, and parents.
- Perform general teaching and coordination duties required to achieve departmental objectives.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Bachelor of Education qualification (mandatory).
- Minimum 2years UAE experience in a similar science teaching or coordination role.
- Previous employment in a British curriculum school is strongly preferred.
- Clear understanding of British curriculum science standards and assessment practices.
- Experience coordinating curriculum delivery, teacher support, and student performance monitoring.
- Strong science subject knowledge and practical teaching capability.
- Ability to conduct lesson observations and provide useful professional feedback.
- Competence in curriculum planning, assessment design, moderation, and data analysis.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Effective leadership, communication, organisation, and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, laboratory safety, and academic improvement.
- Ability to join immediately.
