The Sales Consultant is responsible for generating and closing automotive sales across a range of channels, including mall pop-ups, brand activations, events, and online/digital platforms, during the period the showroom is not operational. The role calls for an innovative, self-driven approach to identifying and engaging prospective customers beyond traditional showroom walk-ins — proactively presenting, demonstrating, and selling vehicles in non-showroom environments. Once the showroom reopens, the Sales Consultant will transition to a blended role, combining proactive, non-showroom selling capability with traditional in-showroom sales.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Proactive & Non-Showroom Sales
- Proactively seek out and engage prospective customers at mall pop-ups, brand activations, and events, rather than relying on showroom walk-in traffic.
- Present, demonstrate, and sell vehicles in non-traditional settings, adapting sales techniques to engage customers who may not have planned to shop for a car.
- Identify and develop innovative approaches to lead generation and customer outreach in the absence of a physical showroom.
- Drive vehicle sales through the company website and other digital channels, responding promptly to online inquiries and leads.
- Coordinate virtual vehicle presentations, test drive scheduling, and delivery logistics for customers engaging primarily online.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build rapport and trust with prospective customers, providing expert product knowledge on vehicle features, financing, and after-sales services.
- Understand customer needs and match them with suitable vehicle options, following up consistently to convert interest into sales.
- Maintain long-term relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
Showroom Transition & Operations
- Transition to in-showroom sales operations once the showroom reopens, applying the same proactive, customer-focused approach to walk-in and appointment-based customers.
- Maintain showroom presentation standards and process sales documentation, contracts, and handovers in line with company and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain accurate records of leads, customer interactions, and sales pipeline activity across all channels.
- Achieve individual sales targets and KPIs across pop-up, digital, and showroom channels.
- Provide regular updates to management on market response, customer feedback, and pop-up or event performance.
- Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilize sound judgment in decision making.
- Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the business.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
Work Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in automotive sales, retail sales, or a related customer-facing sales role.
- Experience in non-traditional or outbound sales channels (e.g. mall activations, events, pop-up retail, or online sales) is highly preferred.
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Highly proactive and self-driven, comfortable generating leads and sales without relying on walk-in customers.
- Innovative and adaptable, with the ability to sell effectively in non-traditional environments such as malls, events, and online platforms.
- Strong product knowledge and presentation skills, able to engage and convert customers who were not actively seeking to purchase a vehicle.
- Digital literacy and comfort using online sales tools, social media, and digital communication channels.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with strong closing ability.
- Resilient and comfortable operating in a changing, less structured environment, with the flexibility to move between non-showroom and showroom sales models.
