Overview
Focus on handling guest dining calls, accurately recording room service orders, explaining menu options, and coordinating efficient order delivery. This role serves as the primary telephone contact for guests requesting in‑room dining, requiring detailed menu knowledge, clear communication, accurate order entry, professional telephone etiquette, and close coordination with culinary and service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer all room service and food and beverage calls promptly according to service standards.
- Greet guests professionally according to the time of day.
- Confirm the guest's name and use it naturally during the conversation.
- Listen carefully to guest requirements and record orders accurately.
- Repeat each order to confirm menu selections, quantities, preparation requests, and delivery details.
- Maintain complete knowledge of room service menus, ingredients, preparation styles, accompaniments, and available alternatives.
- Explain food and beverage options clearly and respond accurately to guest questions.
- Inform guests about hotel restaurants, bars, facilities, operating hours, shops, rooms, promotions, and special events.
- Remain updated on daily hotel activities, banquets, festivals, food promotions, and functions.
- Follow established preferences and standing instructions for long‑stay guests.
- Open, update, and close guest checks accurately.
- Enter orders into the approved point‑of‑sale system and route them to the correct service or kitchen team.
- Coordinate with room service colleagues to support timely preparation and delivery.
- Apply approved upselling techniques when appropriate without pressuring guests.
- Maintain professional confidentiality and protect guest and company information.
- Keep the order‑taking booth clean, organized, and ready for operation.
- Follow all product standards, telephone procedures, and service sequences covered during training.
- Maintain proper grooming and a professional appearance throughout every shift.
- Attend scheduled training sessions, briefings, and departmental meetings.
- Cooperate fully with F&B colleagues and other hotel departments.
- Remain familiar with hotel emergency procedures and respond according to established instructions.
- Follow the relevant Operational Standards Manual and all company documentation.
- Assist task force teams supporting new hotel openings when assigned.
- Carry out other reasonable duties requested by management.
Ideal Profile
- Previous food and beverage, room service, restaurant, call handling, or hotel experience is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal communication and telephone etiquette.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to record orders accurately.
- Responsible, reliable, and attentive to guest requirements.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast‑paced service environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to support colleagues.
