Job summary

Raffles Dubai is seeking a friendly Host/ess to warmly welcome guests, seat them efficiently and manage reservations. You will assist in setting up tables, maintain guest databases, and ensure adherence to LQA and hotel standards.

The role involves handling inquiries, coordinating with the culinary team for buffet labeling, and supporting the service team during peak periods. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in F&B/hotel guest services, excellent English, and cash handling experience.

• Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
• 1 year hotel experience in F&B or related industries with transferable skills.
• Previous public contact and cashiering experience.
• Knowledge of restaurant seating/table plan and guest management.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm welcome to guests and seat them at their table.
• Take telephone bookings and maintain reservations book.
• Assist in setting tables and displays.
• Maintain and update guest database.
• Ensure knowledge of LQA and hotel standards and apply them in interactions.
• Address guest complaints with supervisor support where possible.
• Lead service training as directed by supervisors/managers.
• Prepare food & beverage labels for buffet rotations and coordinate with the culinary team.
• Ensure outlet reports are maintained and submitted on schedule.
• Support service team during peak times and maintain cleanliness of hostess areas and menus.
• Maintain good relationships with colleagues and other departments.
• Prepare operational materials in the back office and learn safety, sanitation, and hygiene policies.
• Present checks and perform cashiering if needed.
• Control guest flow to maximize turnover and assist in inventory of equipment.
• Train waitstaff and bus staff in hostess standards.
• Prepare restaurant for opening with staff and tables ready.
• Assist other outlets during peak periods.

Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide an appropriate welcome at F&B Outlets for guests. To handle table reservations and effectively control the flow of guests.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a warm and friendly welcome leading guests and seating them at their table
• Take telephone bookings and maintain a clear and organized reservations book
• Assist in the set-up of tables and displays
• Maintain and update guest database
• To ensure full knowledge and understanding of LQA and Hotel Standards and to implement them in all interactions
• Be attentive to guests and resolve their complaints where possible reporting all incidents to Supervisor/Assistant Manager/Manager
• To undertake service training lead by the outlet DT/ Supervisor/Assistant Manager/Manager to ensure full capability in understanding and executing service standards
• To make/maintain all food/beverage labels for daily rotations of the buffet and working closely with the culinary team to update changes including last minute requests for the buffet
• To ensure that all reports related to the outlet are well maintained and completed as per schedule and in a timely manner
• To support the service team during times of need/crunch in service in the following areas but not limited to: section holding coffee station back area and mis en place etc.
• Maintain cleanliness of hostess station and surrounding areas as well as of all menus
• Maintain good working relationship with own colleagues and all other departments
• Correct preparation of all necessary operational material in the back office
• Learn safety sanitation and hygiene policies
• Present check to guests and perform cashiering function if needed
• Effectively control guest flow in the restaurant ensuring maximum turnover
• Assist in carrying out quarterly bi-yearly yearly inventory of operating equipment
• Train waitstaff and bus staff in hostess standards
• Ensure the restaurant is ready to receive guests prior to opening and that both wait staff and tables are ready in line with opening standards
• Carry out any other duties as and when assigned by the Management of the Hotel
• Assist other Food & Beverage Outlets in their operations within peak times when needed

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Excellent reading writing and oral proficiency in English
• Well-presented and professionally groomed at all times
• Strong interpersonal skills and able to establish a good rapport with guests
• Possess full knowledge of restaurants seating/table plan
• Computer knowledge (Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint)
• Eagerness to learn and share knowledge with the Team
