Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Project Director - Roads and Infrastructure in Dubai, UAE, to lead delivery from inception to completion, interfacing with the client on contractual, technical and commercial matters. You will coordinate across design, construction, and project controls, managing claims, risks, QA/HSE and reporting to senior management.

You must have 20+ years of experience in large infrastructure projects, 5–10 years on Dubai RTA projects, and a BG Civil degree with PMP; Chartered status is

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered status or membership in MICE, MCIOB, or MRICS preferred.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 20 years of experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
• 5–10 years of direct experience on Dubai RTA projects.
• Proven experience delivering projects valued above AED 1 billion.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall project delivery from inception through completion in line with scope, schedule, budget, quality and safety.
• Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan and related safety and control plans.
• Serve as primary client interface for contractual, technical and commercial matters.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams across design, construction and project controls.
• Negotiate scope changes, variation orders and contractual amendments.
• Track performance against KPIs, milestones and deliverables with corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee procurement and management of subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Lead Value Engineering initiatives focused on lifecycle cost and project performance.
• Maintain compliance with HSE and Quality Assurance procedures.
• Manage project claims, disputes, contractual risks and mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
• Foster collaboration and high performance across project participants.

Your Role

As Project Director, you will provide leadership from project inception through completion, serving as the primary interface with the client on contractual, technical, and commercial matters. The role requires close coordination across design, construction, project controls, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, senior management, and other stakeholders. You will be responsible for maintaining delivery performance while addressing commercial matters, contractual changes, risks, claims, quality requirements, and HSE obligations throughout the project lifecycle.

• Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Control Plan, and other essential project documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, such as BSc, BEng, or MEng.
• Chartered status or membership of a recognized professional institution such as MICE, MCIOB, or MRICS is preferred.
• PMP or an equivalent Project Management certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 20 years of experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, and urban road networks.
• Minimum 5-10 years of direct experience working on Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) projects.
• Proven experience delivering projects valued above AED 1 billion.
• Strong commercial and contract management background, including claims management and negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams within a matrix organization.
