Job summary

Johnson Controls in Dubai is seeking a Project Development Engineer to lead and support detailed development of HVAC projects across the UAE and MEA region, including Kuwait and Qatar.

You will review specifications, select AHUs FCUs Chillers and other equipment, prepare technical submittals and cost estimates, and work with customers to deliver compelling solutions. Travel may be required to support local teams and customer discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with HVAC specialization or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in application/estimation of HVAC systems, including equipment selection, costing and technical submittals.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to interact with colleagues at all levels.
• Proactive and timely approach to problem-solving; ability to generate ideas and drive designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support detailed development of HVAC projects across the UAE and MEA region.
• Review specifications and understand customer requirements and system concepts.
• Select HVAC equipment (AHUs, FCUs, CRACs, chillers) and prepare cost estimates and technical submittals.
• Develop alternatives and offers that best satisfy customer intent and strengthen JCI position.
• Prepare customer communications, quotations, technical submittals, and product compliance statements.
• Perform engineering or commercial analyses to quantify customer benefits and cost savings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and occasionally travel to sites to support discussions.
• Collect data at customer facilities to support solution design and post-contract reviews.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant engineering standards and pursue professional certifications.

What you will do

As Project Development Engineer you will partner with customers on projects in UAE and across the MEA region inc. Kuwait and Qatar to lead and/or support detailed development of HVAC projects.

How you will do it

• Conduct detailed review of specifications understands the specified requirements as well as system concepts.
• Select HVAC equipment (such as AHUs FCUs CRAC Ecology Fans and Chillers) and applies it correctly and effectively as per customer RFQ.
• Understand competitive products and the advantages of JCI portfolio offers. Develop alternatives and optional offers that best serves the intent and position JCI advantageously.
• Assist in preparing customer communication documents such as quotations technical submittals presentations and details product compliance statements. Utilise specialized functional expertise as a technical support team member.
• Perform detailed engineering or commercial analysis to quantify cost savings or other customer benefits. Assists in technical or financial benchmarking as needed.
• Play an active role in crossfunctional teams with the development of specific components of the bundled sale. When needed occasionally travels overseas to provide on location support to the local teams in discussions and reviews internally or with customers.
• Perform data collection at customer facilities required to perform solution design or detailed development tasks and may provide postcontract design review support.
• Assist with presentations to technical buyer as required.
• Remain up to date with relevant engineering or design standards and practices.
• Participate in relevant professional organizations and works to secure relevant professional certifications and licenses (e.g. Professional Engineering license).

What We Look For:

Required:

• Bachelors degree Mechanical Engineering HVAC or related field
• Experience (suggested 8 years) in application/estimation of HVAC Systems including equipment selection costing & technical submittal.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities able to cooperate with people of different levels inside/ outside the company and to interact with team to reach team goals and business objective.
• Proactive and timely approach to problemsolving
• Ability to take actions decision & to generate ideas products process in promised timely manner: involvement in designs or other work requiring creative imagination

Preferred:

• Specialised education in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
• Functionspecific licenses or certifications (e.g. Professional engineer Certifier energy carbon trader Breem LEED etc.
